There is some insane incompetence per usual going on where the shop and the insurance aren't talking to each other. Geico decided to mail me the check for $1550...

THIS IS AFTER I CALLED THE ADJUSTER AND UPLOADED THE PROPER ESTIMATE FROM THE SHOP, who also reached out to them... Geico doesn't have a single person handling things end to end. It's ground hog day every time I call... and ball keeps getting dropped. Sigh.
I am still coordinating with the shop as far as repairs and I am just trying to not have a situation where I am paying out of pocket.

3.5TT. It’s interesting when you say trash I personally haven’t had Ford quality issues and got a crown Vic to 400k miles … but this car …. More on that later I’ll do a comprehensive write up once I put some miles on it.

The Ecoboost had some issues in the beginning but, they seem pretty solid now.

The engine is great. The 3.5TT is world class IMO. I am willing to put it up against a B58

One of the engineers I work with has an Expedition MAX with the 3.5TT. He tows a camper with it frequently and loves the power. He did have some transmission issues but they were fixed with a new valve body and solenoid under warranty.

I called the Geico adjuster... and he doesn't answer the phone ever. And I called the repair place also didn't answer... I :dunno: what to do... I am not authorizing the extra repairs until I hear that Geico is covering it.
This is just criminal IMO. There is no way there is that much damage.

This is terrible and insane. I think they just see an expensive fancy electric BMW and an easy insurance payout where you’re not at fault and on the hook but because both parties have Geico they will pay whatever since they’re supposed to also advocate for you.

I used to have geico, they seemed to be good with me until.... since I didn't own a car in the US for roughly 9 months and trying to get the Accord insured, they were straight up trying to ripping me off. Moved on with progressive and even cheaper than I used to pay with geico. It turned out to be a waste of time once I finally got hold of someone and gave me an absurd quote like im a stereotypical altima driver.

Is it at a dealer or a body shop?
There’s absolutely no fucking way a $350 grille panel is $9k to replace.

I would talk to the rep about sending to another shop. That price is lunacy.

In case the series of events isn’t super clear.
Car received quote for repair from geico via pics $1500
Car received quote from actual shop, which was higher only due to labor $2500
Car was dropped off at shop
24 hrs later I got a call that there is more damage now that they took off the grill quote increased to 9k
Geico is sending another non covid adjuster to the shop this morning to see the car in person for the first time
