We're back on the Defender idea? Time is a circle.

I do like it better than the Raptor idea.

It doesn't really bother me to be honest, but can concur it does make the car more badass looking than the car actually is. Im actually servicing the cucktrek now as we speak and i tried looking for our sales breh but he's off today. Maybe ill try my luck when i take it in for inspection in october.

Solid dad cars :lolol:

But I kind of hope not. I think the GTI ship has sailed for me.

:dat: I still don't really see what's 'fun' about a Raptor in SF Bay Area, seems like a huge PITA to have such a large vehicle there.

None of these options are really "fun". They're more unique I guess, but I agree. A Raptor in a city sounds like a nightmare.

You're going to get a Hype R. You've convinced yourself for now that the 86 will work for :baby: duty but it won't.

He’s got the jeep for that. He barely drives as is so I don’t think it’ll be an issue

Yea … but I’m mostly in the burbs nowadays and I don’t foresee that changing in the next 2-3 years.

I considered a golf R for a hot minute. And still do, but for 2025, I really do like the updates.

I will cross that bridge later. Hype R would be awesome but I'm not really sure I'm interested in spending that much money. I haven't been to a track in like a year and I'm sure that won't increase with CF, whatever time I do have remaining, cycling/fitness are more important to me.

I think the Fendie V8 is pretty badass.

FWIW, Abbey who used to be on golfmk6 years ago has a Fendie and they love it. They use it to tow their track Miata around, road trips, etc. and say it's been one of their favorite vehicles, which is :impressive: after owning quite a few M cars and other cool shit.

Have they had any quality issues ? And do you happen to know the spec and year

No issues, not sure on year/spec. It was bought used so probably a few years old, six cylinder four door.

Interesting... They only made them since late 2020 and had weird model year timing. Like for example I ordered mine in 2021 (nov) and it arrived in June 2022 as a 2023 model. I skipped an entire model year in 8 months. The 20, 21,22 model years were like between 6-9 months long kind of odd.

I 'heard' that earlier models 20-22 had some teething pains but generally were pretty good. The weird thing about most JLR products is that are actually QUITE reliable for the first 5 years or 75k miles. And it then it turns very model specific. You can have one without issues until it hits 150-200k miles and you can have one that is mechanically totaled at 100k

Defenders seem to be holding their value shockingly well... 4 year old ones with 50k miles are still getting 70% of msrp or so. Which is :mindblown: frankly... Usually at 4 years old a typical JLR product is at 30%

I think we all discussed and predicted Fendies would hold value better given the off road craze, popularity of the old POS Fendies, etc. I guess I’d probably go new versus four years old for 30% off.

The wildcard was the :triggered: old schoolers clamoring to their ladder chassis and pos Buick v8s from the 1960s

So I met up with Abbey and Brandon, they were up here in Western NC to relax and mountain bike. We hit some trails and I saw/inquired on the Fendie.

2020 Fendie 110 First Edition, poopoo brown.

Purchased used/certified a bit over a year ago, they've put 20K miles on it. Long story short - don't own out of warranty per them. They had some 'minor' issues like the headlights needing to be replaced under warranty to the tune of $7K... wait for it.... EACH! Some sort of first year model seal problem where there was wind leakage into the car. I think a tech bug or two. They love it but are dumping before 100K miles when the warranty ends.
