That is nice. What’s the asking price?
You should
I'd like to , but I'm not in a place to be buying myself toys RN... Maybe later or if something like this goes on fire sale, like for an unrealistic 10-12K I'd already be driving it home this week. The owner wants 15K (20k cad), which is slightly less then the 18-20k examples that I've seen in similar condition and it should sell super quickly IMO. It looks like it's had just about everything done to bring it back to reliability, mileage is a bit high, but about that when they're all super old and need to be rebuilt anyways.

Dang, they're sweet cars.
$15K US for that is rather IMO. I also wouldn't be fooled into thinking it has had everything done to be reliable. Is a 30 year old car really ever THAT reliable? I guess to some extent it depends on how/how much it gets used.

Yeah exactly, much like the 5.5 it will probably require 2k/yr to stay alive. In not rushing into those headaches, but man is it ever clean.

I mean I wouldn't really sweat the cost as much as the time/headaches. I imagine most of it is fairly simple DIY and parts likely aren't terrible.

Third car DIYs are pretty simple and I've got a great MR2 shop available to me for tougher to DIY tasks. Finding time is the issue for sure. Maybe a proactive approach might be feasible.

Dang, that MR2 has the wants.
thing is awesome. We need some mid engine around here.
I didn't fit AT ALL in Troy's MR2, and that was a generation newer. I can't imagine this thing working for me at all, and there's no way to find out before committing.

But wasn't the last gen the smallest?
Was it?
I'll never be able to find one to sit in, so it's really a moot point. Way too risky otherwise. I'm too old to pretzel into cars like I used to.
Pretty good just like E46s, perhaps even a little better since they are not as old. But old bmws in general will need suspensions + cooling systems above 120k

Yea, I'm prepared to deal with old car shit...I kind of want to as a project that's not the goddamned house. I just don't want to get something with known issues that will plague it and I've always wanted an 06 330.
I'm just tire kicking anyway out of curiosity has taken a hard stance against a 2nd vehicle that we don't need (she's not wrong).
Nice looking car. Kind of a bummer about AWD but maybe that's a benefit to you based on location. My aunt and uncle have had this exact car - 2006 330xi - since maybe new or like 2008 at the latest and it seems to have been pretty fine. They just relocated from PA to CA and I think they took it with them.
DIY will save a lot of dollars here if you don't mind suspension/cooling system stuff at home. I think E90s still are subject to some rear subframe issues?

Yea it's that 255-65hp engine vs the "peasant" 210-230hp. I personally love the facelift 2009+ models. I don't really like the tails on the 06-08s. But the 06-08 are substantially cheaper.
also I drive got a major update in 09, and IMO is still looking decent to this day. Where as the 06-08 is best had without "nav"

AWD would make it usable for me year round, so I'm not really opposed to it at all. I'd DIY everything as a project. My old man wrenching on the C3 has made me miss wrenching myself.

Oh fuck, I Drive. Forgot about that.
The e46 is more appealing to me then. The dude still has it, e-mailed me over the weekend if I wanted to come see it.
I also think the 2006 330i is pretty cool, it's the highest powered NA straight six non M car I think? When talking 16 year old BMWs, non turbo sounds pretty appealing. It's kind of like an E36 M3 but with interior pieces that don't fall off as often.

I had one 10 years ago... and I replaced the headliner/rear seat side panel, 2 door handles... and all interior speakers that rotted out. (literally ROT)... those cars turned to DUST unless they were cared for and or garaged.

Yea, I don't want to deal with Turbro complexity on a car like that. Which is why I've always been intrigued by the 06 330. I still view e46's and e90's as peak 3 series, I know that's but whatever.

I think E46 is the best one.
They are really all pretty good though, there's a reason it's the icon of sports sedans.

Yes it's a cool car. But prepare the lube/sawdust.

E46 had always seemed like the sweet spot. Not a rolling computer, but still modern enough to have solid build quality and materials.
