VW puts their 2.slow into everything also, and they have plenty of issues. It'll only bankrupt the company if it fails within 3/36 or 5/60. Which won't be the case.
My point was that the whole point of a Jeep is that it is simpler than other Jelly bean cross overs. Frame, NA, no DI, can hose out interior etc. Once you add things like Hybrid+Turbos+intercoolers things get complicated.
That's just my opinion of course.
Oh, totally. In the spirit of Jeep, a simple engine is better. But in practice, it'll probably be fine and is more fun. I doubt any of the 2.0T vehicles will be in my fleet purview for long enough to matter anyway.
I think a Jeep is a great vehicle to buy and keep for 10 years...
Low depreciation
Low maintenance costs
simplicity of repair
Amazing aftermarket
Outside of the abysmal MPG there is no reason not to have one in the stable. But eroding the key PLUS's erodes the WANT imo. I'd think the 3.6 should go 10 years easy, but the 2.T

0 issues on my dads now 3 y/o 3.6, i love the simplicity of keeping it going. Simple filter simple oil change empty engine bay... epic.
My buddy with the JLUR has been averaging 15.5 since going with 35s over the last 1200 miles.

I bet my dad will have his for 10+ years. But he spent the last decade with his 2.0T turbo Saabs, and is 100%

about the "scary" 2.0T tech. We'll see.
I hope we have ours that long. I really like it, but at the mercy of the whim of

. I'm somewhat worried about the hybrid system, but I suspect the aftermarket will come up with a way to yank it out if they start failing catastrophically outside of warranty.

We may actually look at the new Compass for

when she gets a new car eventually. She is really into a Jeep for some reason (wants a small SUV/box thing), the branding really works for her

.
Her favorite car has been the Fiat Panda we rented due to being huge inside and small outside

, so I think the Reegay may be better, seems like the Compass is probably "nicer" s we'll see when the time comes.
I don't think the Compass is "nicer" per se, but it's certainly a bit bigger. It's a really nice size vehicle that drives like a taller car. I totally get why so many

buy them. I was surprised by how much mine ended up liking it, but she's excited to get her JL back.
Nice to know. Big inside, little outside is really what she likes. She loved the Panda because it was huge inside but tiny, easy to park, easy to see out of. I actually think she has pretty "good tastes" in that respect.

I would also pass on the 2.0T offerings... but it's cool they exist.

The Compass is similar in that respect.

got stuck doing work, so I took the loaner back to get her JL.

is only open until 8pm on Mondays, the rest of the week is 8-6...how the fuck is a normal working person supposed to deal with those hours

but we had to get it last night.
Compass is indeed fine, but nothing about it is particularly special to me. Feels no better or worse than anything else in the small crossover segment, but has a Jeep badge which I guess sells it? It feels remarkably like a car, especially when compared to the JL.
Getting into the JL directly from it really highlights how freaking nice the JL is. Interior materials feel better, looks more "bespoke", rides better, 2.0T has way more power. It's crazy, but you can definitely see why one is $25k and the other $50k. Worth double the price? No...but there's obvious improvements for that price premium.

is

to have her Beebeep back with the ass burners in full force. It's crazy how hot the JL/T seat heaters get...I can only stand the highest setting for a few minutes before I turn it down. I've also been using the heated steering wheel in my JT way more than I should. Don't let

hear that.

I still wouldn't base a purchase decision on that feature alone like

When it's in the 40-50's out and you don't wear gloves (which I don't at those temps), your hands can get a bit of a chill walking to the truck. The heated wheel takes the chill out WAY better than I expected.

I feel claustrophobic with gloves so I would absolutely use the wheel.
Just realised this makes no sense since I wear gloves all day at work. Idk it's true but it doesn't make sense. Heated wheel fan regardless

I wore a short sleeve and jeans. It was 48... it was fine.
I suppose that makes sense too, Siberian princess was constantly cold af at my house, in her area there was winter from October to April. And non bitch ass US winter. But they heated the inside of their residences to 80+...
I prefer 60-65 inside

Depends. For some reason, my hands get cold easy. I can wear a short sleeve shirt in the 40s and be fine, but my hands get cold.
I also keep our house in the mid 60's in winter. Sometimes guests complain, but I like the temp.

My hands and feet get really cold if it's at all chilly and I'm not moving around, I think due to very low blood pressure.

You go auto X's when it's 40 or below? Don't the tires turn into cubicles of ice and you just slide into school buses on every turn?

If I'm just standing/sitting still, it is pretty cold sub 65 degrees, especially in the shade.
As for what I'm doing, working on cars, just sitting (I love being outside), eating outside (I like to get outside for lunch at work).

Yeah
I'd want a jacket at that temp unless I was running or doing some other physical activity.

Sadly that's part of the deal up here. The tires still sort of work in the 30s once they get a little bit of heat in them.
