Yea, it’s really not bad bang for the buck. I don’t mind the way it looks either, including the salad shooters. Not sure I could do a white interior, but blue on black or whatever would be 5/7.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 10:40 am0-60 in 3.5, 310 miles of range, and a futuristic uncluttered interior sounds pretty fucking good to me too.
$67k for a blue one with white interior. Man I don't even think that's too bad. A Hellcat costs the same and performs the same. But this has more snob factor while that has more roidbro factor.
Lets talk about Tesla.

Well, vehicle engineering and manufacturing engineering are two different things. There's clearly some fantastic vehicle engineering going on here, but the manufacturing side has some kings to work out. How many manufacturing chiefs has the company been through? It's one thing to engineer a fantastic vehicle, it's another to build that vehicle at scale with minimal flaws. The latter has yet to be proven.

With the volume being pumped out, Tesla won't just go away. Most likely, Elon will be ousted after the next twitter meltdown, and the company will spiral until the Chinese can scoop up the remains.

Isn't Tesla famously "open source" or whatever?

Lease it and walk away in 3 years. Musk will probably be ousted, but considering it's size and technological might, it's unlikely that Tesla would just close up shop and call it quits. Someone would acquire them.
Leasing is probably best anyway, with how rapidly things are changing in the EV world.

EV's effectively get 7500 in cap cost reduction off the bat thanks to the .gov. They tend to lease REALLY well. However, it's more profitable for a company to just sell cars outright, and since Tesla seems to be selling every car it makes, it doesn't need to look at ways of increasing demand through leasing.

+2500 from the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Tesla needs cash, they can't afford to do financing games, since they are over-extended as is.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 2:40 pmEV's effectively get 7500 in cap cost reduction off the bat thanks to the .gov. It has been mayhem over here, 100s of transporters next to the factory. They are cranking these out at a mind blowing pace. I seriously can't even envision how many will be roaming the streets here shortly, we have well over 10 at my work and new ones showing up every day.
They are outselling 3 series, C class, A4 + IS combined, which are sort of staples here.

Resale is good on Model S's also, they hold their value better than most comparable large luxury cars. But who knows with this volume, this is no longer a niche play, this is mass market. 53k model 3s a qtr is quite a yuge amount.

BTW a RWD Model 3 ordered today will be delivered in 4 weeks, a dual motor performance one in 2 months. That's quicker than getting a JL custom ordered which takes about 3-4 months, and FCA is making 350k a year of those...
That's of an approach, but this mean they are tapping out their client base...? 4 week delivery... if they have another 400k car backlog, shouldn't it take 1 year ?

They're kind of the only game in town right now. Their resale won't take a big hit until other players enter the market. And no I don't mean the Chevy Bolt, nobody shopping Teslas wants to be seen in a Spark look-alike shrunken minivan with a poverty badge.

Some of my co workers got the bolt... because model 3 was too essepensive and they were tired of waiting.
