You're forgetting things like weight and gearing.

2.0 civic 6MT does about the same 0-60 as a 2.5 Mazda3 6MT except the civic is shifting twice. It ain't that slow.

With the 2.5 only
2.5 Mazda 3 was not bad at all. Decent power. Just the car overall was not very sporty. Sportier than a Corolla yeah but a decent bit less than a MK6 Yaris.

DSG TURDI - 3186 lbs 8.0 seconds 0-60 with launch control and instant shifts

2.Slow Civic :manuel: - 2726 lbs 7.6 seconds 0-60 with 2 shifts

2.Slow Mazda3 :manuel: - 2883 lbs 7.5 seconds 0-60 with 1 shift

2.5 Mazda3 :manuel: - 3020 lbs 7.4 seconds 0-60 with 1 shift

The Civic will be the most agile and have the fastest in-gear acceleration at low speeds. It's also got the quickest steering ratio.

TDI Dsgay does not have launch control and I am closer to 9 per my own timing.

Manual doesn't matter, no one does clutch drops on a daily basis. 5-60 is the real metric on these. I am still having a hard time believing that a 2.5 powered 3 is same speed as the 2.0.
Where is this 7.6 second coming from for the 2.slow civic... everywhere I saw had them at 9+ NO FUCKING WAY. Unless it is just that clutch drop BS.

Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 7.5 sec

That's a fair amount faster right there.

I would like to test drive this car. By all accounts it is like a Honda Accord at the height of its powers, before it became this bloated thing for fat people. .86g on the skipad and alleged neutral handling from a FWD car? Damn son. Get one slightly used and you could bang that thing into every object in San Francisco or Philly and NFG all day long.

Still way faster than a turdi and WAY WAY faster in-gear.

I like the civics a lot... but I'd prefer a manual+hatch which doesn't exist :mahtroy: style or maybe a manual sedan. And while the civic is a better CAR than my current EGG, it still feels like a downgrade because they are a dime a dozen.

I've driven an automatic Mazda 3S.

It's quiet. At least as good as the MK6 GTI road noise wise.
The seats are comfortable but don't hold you quite as well as GTI.
Interior is nicer.
Brakes felt decent but I wasn't driving it too hard so I can't really say.
Turn in was better than MK6 GTI as was overall handling. The car felt more predictable, nose darted right into the turn, little to no understeer.
2.5 motor felt nice and torquey across the whole powerband, my GTI didn't feel like a rocket after the test drive. Yes GTI is faster, but really, 5-60, they're pretty damn similar.
Motor was more responsive, but that could also be because it had the 6AT. Which was a great little transmission. Better than the 8AT in recent BMWs. Shifts were fast, paddles responded immediately, and no torque converter slip past like 5 MPH, very fast lock up. Shift speed approaching a DSG but take off as smooth as any slusher.
Felt very "balanced" from all the controls. The weight of everything was pretty even across the board, the car felt like it was in harmony with everything working together seamlessly. Anyone that has driven a recent vehicle with way overboosted brakes or a super touchy throttle would understand what i mean by this.

I didn't want it because it didn't feel like much of an upgrade past the GTI, and felt even more "fake executive" if you understand what I mean. Like those made in china leather binders you find at discount stores that say "executive" on the box. Whatever. Ultimately though I didn't have a ton of fun driving it, probably due to lack of involvement from lack of :manuel: Might be more fun as an MT. My friend's old 1st gen 2004? Mazda 3S is a fun car to drive with 160 HP. Which is about the same speed as this new 3S.

It's not at all a bad car.

Stuck clutch can happen on anything. Shit happens.

Only thing you can do is have a contingency fund and roadside assistance (which I have one of two... :notsure: )

I'm planning on doing the clutch in the R53 over the winter.
Sure but the reason you sold your Poverty truck, is because you didn't want to deal with shit like that... no?
I mean come on mang...
Blowing coolant over the side of the freeway while morons are wizzing past you at 80mph while texting and the GF scrambling to get you coolant is not the idea of a normal life to me. :gaydance:
