If you want to stick with iPhone check out the new SE they released. iPhone 6/7/8 form factor with some upgraded internals. Starts at $399
Yeah. I know about the SE. I'm not due for an upgrade until the fall at the earliest. I'm tossing around a switch to Android, but will probably chicken out like I always do.

just upgraded his Android flagship so he might have good advice to offer on that end. Pixel is really good from a pure OS standpoint but I think he went with a Galaxy phone

Yeah. He went S20+. We'll see what I'm feeling come upgrade time. I'm interested to see what the iPhone 12 brings to the table.

Rumor has it that the 12 will be re-designed to be more square like the old 4/5's were (and like the new iPad Pro is). I would love a squared off phone like that if the rumors end up being true.

Yeah. I've seen the same rumors. I'm mostly curious about features. I would love to have an in-glass finger print reader to complement the Face ID. There are just enough times where Face ID doesn't work for me that I'd love the fingerprint as a backup. With the wearing of masks now (which I can't imagine is going anywhere for a while), it would be even more useful.
I haven't tried to setup an alternate appearance while wearing a mask though. I'll give that a go when I get my XS Max back.

Agreed. It's more aggravating when I want to use Apple Pay since I have to confirm with removing my mask or passcode.

The under screen one in the Galaxy is 5/7. I won't use face unlock so I need one that has one.
I hope I am wrong but I don’t think Apple will bring the under screen one for the iPhone 12 (this fall). Apple tends to lag with innovative features until they can make them “seamless” to their ecosystem (not saying current flagships that have it aren’t seamless)

I haven't had a reason to use ApplePay since the start of the pandemic, but I would probably just use my watch since it doesn't require anything more than a double click.

I'm inclined to agree with you. They're probably just "buggy" enough yet that Apple would scoff at using them.
That said, adding back a fingerprint reader could be viewed as moving backwards by Apple no matter what, leading them to never use it.

form factor is more commonly used in tech/electronics because it is comparative to classes of tech. Form factor takes into account volume and specifications, not just physical size.
For example, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone 11 Pro Max are the same size, however they are not the same form factor. The iPhone 8 Plus has a bezeled screen, whereas the iPhone 11 Pro Max has a full-screen display.

Somebody told me it's not the size that counts, but the motion of the form factor.
