Hey man, you’re working extremely hard and I think you’ll wind up in a good spot.
But I have to brag on my dad for a second. He is 65 and was determined to get a college degree. Originally a high school drop out, he ended up getting his deplorable around age 20 in the US Army. Years later he realized a degree could help much more and he started going to community college while working full time night shift. He’d work for 12 hours, get off at 6, drive to school, sleep in his Rabbit Diesel for a few hours, then go to class. He got the associates in around ‘95 at 42 years old. He then decided to go to undergrad a bit later, still working full time, and got his BS in 2013, shortly after mine, his youngest kid, in 2011.
He came from a poor ass broken family and no one else went to college. I’m certainly proud of him, but you’re right, it’s crazy hard work and from starting community college to getting the BS took 12+ years.
That sounds like my dad too, except he only got a certificate degree. He grew up in poverty, got his first car in his 30's (had a company beater car before). He began working for an airline company starting from the lowest position after his dad passed away at 17, so he had to work to look after my grandmother.
But thats also good to hear that he didn't give up. I have one year left to wrap up so I won't ever have to deal with that when im almost 30. But I experienced real life during my time off too, so thats a plus.
Better late than never. In some ways college later would’ve been good, I think I would’ve taken it more seriously and learned a lot more. At the end of the day, having the piece of paper is helpful and opens up some doors, however you get there.

That I wholeheartedly agree on, even though you go through some classes that you do not necessarily need and knowing forget at least half of the things the minute you finish your final too.

They advertise employee leases on trucks like this around here for $199/mo 10k miles 24 mos $0 down.
I know there's employee pricing at play, but $400 still seems a bit steep TBH.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.

Jesus. I'm not into the black package. I told the guy I needed heated bucket seats, blind spot monitor and LED headlights for 400 with zero capital cost reduction. Didn't care about trim level, wheels or V8 color, etc ....4x4 crew cab obviously
My math on money factor and residual said 400 a month was a good target
200 a month would be epic. Dang!

Seriously. It's making me consider leasing one just for the hell of it and letting the wife drive it (she loves big trucks).

On what type of loaded ram rebel on cuntractor special with crank windows? $400 seems completely in line with a 40k msrp
No, a decently well equipped big horn...or whatever the mid trim/volume model is.

How is that possible? $200 a month 0 down seems about as fake news as it gets on that. These things depreciate pretty good and it is a $50k MSRP vehicle

The original 1SMP Silverado lease was $200/mo $0 down. Was a $45k MSRP truck IIRC.
Still, based on my experience so far trying to get a price on a you're probably right that we're dealing with a lot of here.

Well correct, but that was a few years back, interest rates were lower etc. A big horn is a higher trim spec (you also had that baby dick motor in yours) and a ram depreciates more than a silverado. Also you had major luck on those employee s not available to others.

Other than interest rates, those things still apply. I'd get a 3.6 ZFG, I've got employee pricing, etc.
Not saying others can get the same deal, but with the cash on the hood of these things, it seems like leasing should be pretty strong unless the residuals have gone completely in the shitter.

Residual on the one I posted is 55% 50k msrp
The higher trims are around 50%
residual 55% on 50k msrp... so that means 27,500 residual value... 40k transaction price means 12,500 in payments over 3 years with no money down and "free" lease money. ~347 per month + interest + tax so $400 makes sense. $200 does not. And that's with 10k on the hood...
When I was shopping around prior, FCA doesn't throw the same cash on hood for leases as they do for sales.
