I turned it off through the center screen, but it was still acting like it was on. I genuinely don't know. I suppose I should have had my salesman walk me through it all but I was so frustrated by the time I got back from my test drive I didn't think about it.

I think I just want to get another Atlas. Could probably swing this and keep the 86.

I think it may make more sense to wait to see what the 25 screen update will do. I hear good things …

Yeah I totally missed this. So there are two screens in the assist systems. There's this one -

- where if you tap on the car in the adjacent lane highlighted in blue, it brings up what appears to be the lane keep assist and you can turn it off, which is what I did. That car then turns grey. What I did not do, is click on the little menu button in the very top right of the screen, which brings up this list:

Turns out there are two different lane-keeping assist systems? I think what I did was turn off the "Lane Change System (Side Assist)", but did not turn off the "Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist)".

Why don’t you turo one for a few days to see if fits your needs. Seems like test drives don’t give you the full picturecoogles wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:27 am Yeah I totally missed this. So there are two screens in the assist systems. There's this one -

Turo is a good idea. I’m a little confused at how it’s either GTI or Atlas? If a GTI will truly work, why not get a ‘19 GTI instead of a ‘19 Atlas?
That is super lame that something like lane keep is buried in menus. It’s pretty much always a button in every rental I get. As mentioned, it often still feels like it’s doing something though.

:doit:I honestly think the in-cabin noise and ride quality may turn you off.

I see why the two options seem incongruent but bear with me.D Griff wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:51 pm Turo is a good idea. I’m a little confused at how it’s either GTI or Atlas? If a GTI will truly work, why not get a ‘19 GTI instead of a ‘19 Atlas?

We have what on paper is a 3 car garage, but depending on what cars you have it could be any of a 0, 1, 2, or 3 car garage.
How could it be a 0 car garage? It's only 18' deep, and a Suburban (for example) is 18'10" long.
If we have two cars roughly the size of the Atlas, it's a 1 car garage. It has one double door and another single door, but that double door has zero space next to it to actually get out of the car. If you pull in with the mirror close to the door opening, you'll have the width of said mirror to actually open the door to the car and you'll be getting out on the passenger side. It makes putting two cars in the bay with the double door impossible unless they're both Fiat 500s or something (maybe). The single door is also tiny. It is narrower than the Odyssey is mirror tip to mirror tip.
Part of my mental seesawing is that I would prefer to not have to keep a car parked outside. The GTI fits in that side bay.
If I'm going to keep the 86, I might as well get something big save for the fuel economy issue. It's not going to fit in the garage regardless, so if it can work for the family, all the better.
So it's either Atlas + 86 or just GTI? That definitely makes a bit more sense.coogles wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 8:07 pmI see why the two options seem incongruent but bear with me.D Griff wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:51 pm Turo is a good idea. Or just get an e-bike and ride that sweet Monon trail down! Cargo bike if you're taking the kids to daycare.

This would all be so much easier ifD Griff wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 9:31 am So it's either Atlas + 86 or just GTI? That definitely makes a bit more sense.
I can't arm chair QB this thing as obviously you know your needs day-to-day best, I guess the only thing I'd say is I'd focus on what you'll be doing most in cars and try to make that as enjoyable/practical as possible. If you're facing a pretty long commute, the GTI starts to get pretty appealing with better MPG and more enjoyment.

As much as I love the Atlas, the van is simply a better tool for ferrying crotchfruit. She can try to rationalize not having one, but having lived with one for 2 years now it's just so much easier.
