I should start selling my own variation of a fart jar on TicToc to VW owners.
You're so old you can't even spell TIkTok.

Despite me knowing the spelling though, I'm still happy to say I've never been on that piece.

Power steering failures? My MK6 had what seemed to be power steering failures, the dealer even got VW to goodwill a whole new steering rack.

Turned out to be a bad battery.

The rack wasn't getting the voltage it needed and kept going haywire.
First month or so they had it, basically steering took a dump while she was driving alone, evidently scary and required a lengthy dealer stay. I don’t remember the exact details as it was seven years ago.

They’re not really car people although he does have a :manuel: 🌮 and does his own stuff like brake jobs, fluids. So certainly not entirely car dummy either.

:iono: quite anecdotal but at the moment it adds to the list of reasons not to get a VW. No alternators for three months for well over half your cars sold in the last five years? Stop sales on new cars for reasons? I don’t care about this as much as some but a UI that is hated by literally every reviewer who touches them? Seems like they’re kind of fucked as a brand, perhaps they’re to me what Toyota is to Max.

If you get that AllTrac, just take a trip to Chicago, have :wap: fart in the seat, you should be good for a decade of trouble free ownership.
:word: Have his wife fart in the passenger seat and you're good for 500K miles.

That 20th anniversary edition sold for $39,800. That seems like a tremendous :dill:

Dang. Though, that's $41,591 with the C&B fees (4.5%), then add on shipping to Indiana ($3,000 quote for another car in California) and you're at $44,500. $49,000 for a new one, and buying from a :dillerman: gets me the tax benefits on trade-in. I guess it wouldn't have been that big of a difference.

This one only had 1000 miles :doe: so essentially new. But maybe it's a sign the used market is coming down on them. Maybe a local one will pop up. Or a nice Mk7.5.

Shipping from carvana shouldn't be ludicrously expensive. Although the despair gray one apparently had 5 owners. :notsure:

"check charge system" warning light came on in the van today. Fingers crossed it's the alternator I replaced in June of last year since that would still be under warranty. If it's anything else that'll be the end of the van.

From the :dillerman: with the MK8 Golf R:
Good afternoon!

This is Brandon Zufelt, General Sales Manager at My Auto in Muskegon!

I wanted to touch base and follow up with your interest in a new vehicle from us. According to my records we haven't done enough to help you make a purchase decision.

We are entering the home stretch of the month & I am motivated to put a deal together.

Let me and my team know what we can do for you, and I'll make it happen.

Take care & talk soon.
I know :dillerman: gonna :dillerman:, but dammit I've always wanted a Golf R.

That's what I'd have to do, it's just quite a bit more than I want to spend.

If I'm going to MK8 ( :notsure: ), my company is part of the VW Partner Program, which gets you $500 under invoice plus any available incentives, but it doesn't apply to the Golf R. There's a $1,000 rebate on the GTI, so that brings an Autobahn DSG under $40k, versus $49.2k for the Golf R.

None of that sounds attractive. I'd just try to find the best used one if you make a move, but I know you have other concerns. Good luck.

:disgust: is that just the "terminal" or the entire wire... Never heard of a wire like that fail. But the terminals get fucked after year 7 on a lot of cars.

that can happen, esp if they get acid on them. Ive had to change more than one on various older cars
