C6, C7, 370Z, GR86/BRZ are all great choices. Some order stuff is cool too. There's lots of neat stuff out there

Hey y’all…. What’s a decent car for in/around 30k
I got the
86 (too uncomfortable)
The civic si (seems to be impossible at sticker)
The wrx (18 in stock at a local dealer ?! ) are they not selling ?! And the 22mpg can suck a dick
Gti … Um I dunno
Need something to ride out the downturn with … relatively fun/comfortable and limited to no depreciation.

No depreciation, ride out the downturn? Something doesn't really seem to match up here.
You could go used with something special like an E55 AMG as those are on the up swing, pay slightly over sticker for a Si, or pay $75k for a RS3 that will be worth $65k in 3 years with 40k miles on it.

Seems to be pretty clear goal. I’ll use the pre plandemic depreciation schedules, and civic SI, and lower trim wrxs were some of the lowest depreciating cars one can get.CaleDeRoo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 5:47 am No depreciation, ride out the downturn? No interest in a golf RR ie rs3, and no way can I get one without markup and no way will I drive that 15k miles a year with 0fg, just makes no sense. It’s too expensive to own.
E55 amg will get what ? 15mpg? We’re still at $6 a gallon here while I do expect that to go down, the operating costs of an E55 will be tremendously high. While undoubtedly a cool car it’s just not fitting the need.

Yea C8 vs a 993 will be the debate for another time when it comes to a sports car to take downtown for the weekend. But I expect this vehicle category to absolutely tank in the next 9-12 months so buying one now is lunacy.

Too small. I’m hoping that this vehicle isn’t a low and small sports car. I’m looking at comfort level first and performance/fun waaaayyyy second.
I sat in a current gen Q3 and while it’s a bitch mobile I really liked it for what it was size wise. I wouldn’t get one but I’d get it over a TT if there was a gun to my head. If that makes any sense

Subaru dealers like to list cars that are in transit and not on the lot. Toyota does the same.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 10:37 pm Hey y’all…. What’s a decent car for in/around 30k

The main concern I have here is mpg, these are atrocious compared to an si.
Every time I see one I wonder how much they paid over sticker for it.

Civic Si and WRX are solid picks I guess. Civic “nicer” WRX “more fun.”max225 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 8:56 amSeems to be pretty clear goal. Model 3 might be most depreciation proof really. Still desirable, still top of the pack, only going up in price.

Premium or Limited trim is the only way to buy one of these IMO. Premium if you’re limiting cost outlay.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:40 amYou really want a poverty spec WRX with those yuuuge bezels around the infotainment?max225 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:34 am

I’m going to make a prediction here but a model 3 while decent is way overpriced. They went from 37 to 47k for the “around town” model and 57k for the “long range” that’s unacceptable in my book and most people can’t afford that shit. And there is nothing “depreciation proof” when you’re paying 6k in taxes. Given my predicted ownershit length that’s the key thing to limit at the moment.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:47 amCivic Si and WRX are solid picks I guess. A5/S5? Might be too spendy, even if you don't go RS5 since you're prioritizing fun below comfort.
I would love a Miata but I'm just a little too big to really be comfortable in one, my head touches the ceiling. Also can't really take it to the track, so sadly, they're out.
I actually had a few developments yesterday. My buddy decided against buying the BMW, so for now, it stays. My Carvana offer expires today, but I'm not going to sell the thing and go carless. I placed the deposit for the BRZ order today!
$33,9XX out the door for a red Limited six speed manual. $1K down. December delivery. I can get a full refund on the deposit if I decide not to take delivery for any reason, so if the value of the BMW somehow becomes $8K or something, I may bail. Unfortunately I can't lock in the 2.9% APR at this time, but the

Hm. I wanna say used and somewhat fuel efficient but I don’t think the used market has cooled enough yet.
