2012 whorange, 75K miles or so I think. It's a sweet car. You want it? He is a tad desperate so willing to let it go at what I think is a pretty nice price. Him and his GF bought this shit hole of a house and the renovations are turning out to be more money than expected, so he will likely go carless for six months or so.
Car Talk 6: Best of times and Worst of Times
I'm kind of in the wait it out camp. Although I don't really remember what the initial BRZ/86 launch was like. They sat on diller lots for a bit right? They were never unobtanium?

You got a Carvana quote right? How long is it good for? If you get a magic month-long offer like I did, you can cut a month out of the waiting process, then kick the can on delivery for another few weeks-month then the wait is cut down a bit. It's a risk, but possible.

I would go completely out of my effing mind without my own car for six months but the tolerance is strong with you. You can only play the Carvana/Vroom game when you've got a backup. Until full blown retirement I refuse to even live life with TWO cars.

I don’t remember these cars ever being highly desirable and difficult to get. A lot of them had tons of cash on the hood in the later years for sure

My prediction though, is that in a world where a BRZ/86 is sitting on the lot to go buy same day, my BMW is worth $8500.
Waiting out 'til October would be manageable.

The main thing I'd miss out on not having my own car would be mountain biking, I often drive to trails early weekday mornings. I also tend to go grocery shopping for a lunch break when it's less crowded. Outside of that, I could share/use the Wrangler.

My buddy seems 90% sure he wants to buy the BMW from me, so I may see if we can punt things down the road a bit, like I sell it to him for a bit less than my 'vana offer if I can keep it another month or two.
The thing is, he's selling their Cheroshit on the 'vana to get the 328i so I'm sure he doesn't want to hang on to that forever either and risk the value dropping.

five months is a long time without freedom.

Buying anything new now just seems so miserable.

I may wait a little longer before I place a SI order... then again... why bother, the Hype will be unobtanium and prolly 50k +35k markup.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 4:18 pmDon't forget the new Hype R is being shown July 20th. I'm curious as to how many FK8's were made for the US compared to Golf R, STI, etc.
Google tells me 48k worldwide which sounds like way more than the others so the fact that they're still unobtanium is

I see them often but they’re still more than new. The new one won’t be had for sub $75k for a long time. Hell even at MSRP it’ll be $50k OTD.
I think I’d rather something light, simple, RWD for now anyway.
