Reminded me of Jake Brown's wipeout from 15 feet above the rail...

That hurt seeing it live.

Yes, since 1982 or so. I was a Powell Peralta and Independent fanboy and built up many decks in the 80's and followed the guys like Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Christian Hosoi and many others closely in the early/mid 80's. I quit skating all together about 1992, but was into all the X Games pretty hardcore.

There’s a VAG Indy shop by my parents’ house in Hollywood, Florida called German Car Depot. Owned by Alan Gelfand. He invented the “Ollie”. He has a secret very/bowl/skate shop where Tony Hawk and Co. shred when they’re in the area. They call it “Olliewood”.

Sensitive much?

Wow, you highlighted an email from 06:39? Congratulations! you responded after I've already done my 1.5 hour commute, scanned 500+ emails, responded to 20+ and had my third cup of tea.

Now, how about you post some more tarts or something else that you do outside your 80 hour week?
Bruh don't you know how hard it is to type on your phone from bed? I work 60 when my commute is added in. I could probably bump it to 80 if I upped my shit posting about how hard my job is

Minimum of 6 days. 12+ hours per day.

I worked 15s+, 7 days a week for months.

Thats why I go silent on here for months at a time.

I get it.

This trip to Hawaii was my first "offline" vacation of more than 2 days in 22 years. Otherwise I work every day to some degree. Normal Monday-Friday hours I start on work about 2am and shut down at about 10pm. Weekends I am up at 6 checking for issues from the teams around the world from the night before and I check throughout the dayfor things that need my attention or that of my team. Yes, there are a few hours in between that I am doing other things, but I'm always on email on my phone, or taking calls.

When chip bringup is going on it is literally work around the clock and sleep if you really have to mode.

My VPs and CEO work like this as well, so it is what it is and I'm used to it since I've been with the same VP since 1992 at multiple companies. Most people tell me it's crazy, but the things I am working on are helping to change the world and there really are lives at stake with some of the products we produce.

I commend you on the work ethic. But that level of work expectation shouldnt be placed on anyone. I dont know that I could hang with that for very long both physically or mentally.

Ideally I would like to cap my work week at 60 hours and go from there.

Im sure youve had a day that never ended. What is the absolute longest that youve worked without a significant break/sleep? I had a 38 hour "day" once. And I was ready to die at the end.

What advice do you have for people in terms of your drive and motivation that makes you push so hard? What keeps you going at the end of the day?

I've done a 36 hour day and drove home 1.5 hours and don't remember driving, or how I got home.

Last year, on top of my salary I made an extra $880k.

I think it should be clear that this is paying off and won't be forever. It did take a long time to get to this point though and was not without sacrifices without pay.

Holy hell. That is an insane amount of money. But youre also working insane hours.

I believe there was a lot that had to go in for you to be in your current position.

For sure. The last 3 years have been great and I honestly never could have predicted the payoff for all the effort... Not in my wildest dreams.

To your other question, my advice is that if you think the job is worth the effort, always give 100%. If not, you probably are not in the right place.

I think youre right. The past few months have been a time of self reflection to see where I really want to end up in life and what I see for my next 50 years. A determination on what I would like to do with the rest of my life would be helpful.
