Yes, this was discussed before by DPlac and myself. The consensus was that we :woodplow: . Wouldn't necessarily feel good about it the next day, but we still would.
I may not be :fuckyeah: but I would definitely be :notbad:
:dat:

I made the mistake of mentioning it to Michele and now I won't live it down.

"ohhhh the FBI arrested people who were going to kidnap your girlfriend"
"Hey, your girlfriend just announced new protections"
"Your girlfriend is on TV right now, keep your pants on"

etc, etc, etc

BUT, she doesn't disagree with me. :hubba:

Michele has no filter, so she's told all our friends by now...and I've yet to get someone to strongly disagree. Even the gays like her.

This is :( but not at all surprising. It's been crazy up here with people coming from all over, and the downtown areas look like they did last year...crowded, zero social distancing, no mask wearing, etc. Restaurants are good with requiring masks (I haven't been to one that doesn't), but as soon as you're outside the place, it's ZFG.

We pretty much just ignore downtown during the weekend and stay smart about where we go and when.

Sounds about like the tourist areas here. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have been :fullretard: all summer, and now that leaves are changing, :nuke:

At least with the park people are outside, although not always the best at spreading out...in spite of having over 500k acres to explore..

We're in a major tourist destination for Michigan, especially when the leaves start changing. Downtown is particularly popular because of all the restaurants and shops to check out...and it's amazing how many people pack down there ZFG.

Parks and hiking are pretty well spaced out surprisingly...I think most tourists aren't coming up here to hike, and that's what we focus on doing on the weekends. There's a lot of wineries around us, and they're almost all exclusively outside for tasting, which works great at keeping people spaced out.

We've been going on walks on the trails at state parks lately. The parks have mandated masks be worn when around others, and people have been pretty good having masks on their persons and popping them on as they pass others. The University of Delaware just made the news for suspending 19 student athletes for violating safety protocols.

Oh wow, we have zero mask mandates in parks.

And our "supreme court" has ruled mask mandates unconstitutional, so we're in for a real wild ride over the next few months.

That ruling apply to government-issued mandates or for businesses as well? Seems to me if it's the former that's fine, as long as businesses are allowed to set their own rules for service and there's still leadership from public officials expressing the benefits of wearing masks. I was really impressed with how busy the town was and yet responsible everyone is Saugatuck was being when we visited this summer.

Is it really that surprising? I'd be shocked to find mention of the government's authority to enforce elements of a dress code in the constitution.

What's weird is counties and cities are enacting their own restrictions, so I guess it just applies at the .gov state level. Letting businesses set their own rules is just a recipie for disaster, they need more support than that.

The problem up here is there's a ton of :thankstrump: ignorant people coming up here to look at leaves changing color, running around that :sass: and throw tantrums about wearing a mask to go to a restaurant. There were reports of spitting, cursing, and general shittiness to restaurant employees just trying to do their job. In fact, unemployment in that industry is at record lows right now because people just don't want to deal with the stupidity and I don't blame them. Businesses up here are in trouble because they can't find people to work due in large part to the general population being so shitty. I feel really bad for service industry people because they're at much higher risk, and have to deal with people treating them like crap while they're just trying to not get the virus.

Worse, is it's not locals. Everyone that lives here is chill about it, masks are a way of life for now, GTFO.
