Well my dudes, the orange car is gone. This was by far the most difficult and
private party car sale I've ever done. I'll try to do the story justice.
I lowered the price to 11500 on a thursday I think. Posted it to a few more groups and renewed the listing. This must have been the 'right' price because the messages started to really roll in. Ironically the message the got the car sold was my post in a group called "delusional miata pricing" where i was somewhat honestly asking "Am

I make meeting plans with a couple and another dude. The dude is local the couple is coming in from outside Birmingham AL. The local guy keeps trying to come but never really makes the effort to show up, so I confirm plans with the AL people as they will be driving in. After confirming plans the local guy claims to have cash in hand and ready to buy if the other people don't. This is noteworthy later.
It's worthy to note that the AL people seems really interested and were very chatty on the messenger. One was a MTF Trans and the other was Female. I mention this only because in the 'mentally prepare myself for what to expect' the Trans gal I expected to be... a lot. I will call MTF L and the female C to avoid confusion.
Boy was I wrong.
So they show up to check out the car and C is a
fucking masker.
It took alot, and I mean a whole fucking lot to not say anything. Just kept the internal dialog going 'Brad, their money spends the same. they came from far don't be a dick.' It took restraint.
Anyway, I was in the middle of getting all the shit together for the car and told them to feel free to go check it out. C didnt want L around while checking out car cause it would make her nervous. Fine. Apparently L downloaded my wife with her life story in the 30 or so minutes we spent checking out the car and going for a drive. C & L both seem to know their way around cars a bit even tho they showed up in an altima (of course) that appeared to be begging for death.
Questions were asked and answered, drive was had without incident, all is well. herewego.gif
So, I half expected to get an offer. But I got another guy ready with cash.
C offers 11k. I tell them I am firm due to another offer on table for full ask. C says 'oh well' and literally turns on heal to leave house.
L attempts to reason with C and offers many, many reasonable options for how to get the extra 500$. Credit card cash advance, have mom spot you 500, etc etc. all very reasonable.
I was like 'wait, you drove up here with literally not enough money? I could have communicated I was firm and saved you drive' L is exasperated and claims to not know C was short. C is just about in tears 'because she can't borrow money from anyone / hates being in debt'.
C offers to come back after payday; but recall I have another buyer. L is also like hell fucking no I'm not doing 8 hrs of driving twice of 500 bucks, hell that almost covines fuel for that!
C nopes out to car. L and I have a pleasant chat while we give C 10 minutes or so to calm down so cooler heads can prevail. Wife unit is texting me like 'these people are WERID'.
So after a beat L goes out to talk with C. They come up with another option: Take 1500 off car and leave me the hardtop. And then L can come get it by saturday; if not i can sell it. These things are money in the bank pretty much so I agree to these terms.
Now, I told them Id like cash or we can do a wire transfer. No cash to be had, so off to the bank. Future Brad finds out this is unnecessary. Future Brad also now knows domestic wire transfers are not instant since?????
Which annoyed the shit out of past Brad when we found out. Also, we missed the cutoff due to all the hemhawing over 500 fucking dollars.
Anyway, I agree to this FOOLISHNESS if I can literally stand over C's shoulder to watch her do the wire and put in all my info correct and all that jazz. It took her almost a goddamn hour between navigating apps, websites, and password resets. I mean, she had 4 fucking hours on the way over to figure this out amirite?
Anyway wire gets done, head back to house after bothering the lady at the bank for no reason at all (they used different bank).
Load up all the spare shit for the miata, and take the hardtop and put it in the shed. Head back to house to do a quick BOS and sign title. And that's my bad, I should have had it prepared before.

They go to leave. I have a ..... unique parking setup.
The cars rear bumper is roughly in line with tennet b's (TB) front bumper. There are many ways to turn this bitch around. So C hops in the car and reverses up to behind tenant b, cuts the wheel like making a right turn going forward, but we are in reverse.
shes done the hard part of the turn; just back up a little more and use open spot to turn around.
Instead we drop the car of the ledge in the steeply sloped yard. Thankfully the car is low AF and the frame stopped it from going down the fucking hill. So C & L switch places to drive out. Thankfully the car has an LSD, only one tire is dropped, and the other is not COMPLETELY unloaded (torsen type 2). With some pushing on the rear we got the olde girl back on the asphalt. Car get turned around and they finally leave, nearly 3 hours after arrival.
Oh and during the driveway thing C finally took off the fucking idiodic fucking stupid dumb fuck useless liberal's maga hat covid mask - so even if they did work (they don't) C got my kooties anyway.
And then I got to spend all of yesterday, especially afternoon, shitting fucking bricks that I somehow got fucking scammed until the wire finally hit around 515 as I was on the drive home.
I promptly poured two fingers of whillet when I walked through the door.

car, got the dual motor. It was fun and stupendously quick off the line. Got 200 miles of range.
*exactly* matching the factory-tinted rears, so whoever the previous owner of this thing was is the same level of obsessive we all are about our cars. Definitely feel a lot more secure about this one than the Atlanta one.
