2025 Plac-pocalypse!!
Ii did actually pay a good bit of money for one of the best hitch racks available. So it's not exactly an outright refusal to pay for this kind of thing, but it's annoying to need to have multiple ecosystems and whatnot. Picture investing heavily into Milwaukee electric tools and then having to pay big bucks for a Makita tool/batteries/chargers/etc. because Milwaukee doesn't make that one tool. Not the best.

I need a new drill. My Milwaukee 12v is good for hanging pictures but I need something with more ass for these old growth timbers in my home. Probably Dewalt but Makita makes quality tools too.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 1:35 pm Ii did actually pay a good bit of money for one of the best hitch racks available. Milwaukee is the best, Ryobi is good 2nd best for home-DIY based things, and they have a million tools for their battery ecosystem.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 1:54 pmI need a new drill. They also often run sales on tool + battery combos. You can also get reman units off ebay for like 50% off a lot of times. Prot tip - add it to your watchlist and a day or so later you usually get an offer for another 10-%20% off.
For this reason I have a million ryobi tools. They are all winners.

I love my Milwaukee stuff except for my trimmer. I swear, I CANNOT get that thing to release more line without taking the head apart and restringing it every time. Typically you just tap the thing on the ground and more line will come out, but that does not work with this thing. I have no idea what's up with it, but holy hell is it annoying.

I guess the M18 could work. I don’t dislike the one I have it’s just a bit weak. The Dewalt drivers I’ve used have all been pretty wild in how powerful they are.

String trimmer is so much more refined than weed whacker.

I have EGO lawn equipment and the string trimmer is awesome, it automatically releases line so it's always long.coogles wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 2:44 pm I love my Milwaukee stuff except for my trimmer. I have Milwaukee tools, and Johnny, you probably need the hammer drill or possibly the M18 drill.
I'm still thugging my Craftsman cordless hammer drill. Still going strong.

Yeah I wanted the EGO stuff but I wanted to support the local lawnmower shop more than HD/Lowes.Melon2.0 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 4:52 pmI have EGO lawn equipment and the string trimmer is awesome, it automatically releases line so it's always long.coogles wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 2:44 pm I love my Milwaukee stuff except for my trimmer. I’ve been using the Milwaukee 12v hammer drill and it’s ok too. But you’re probably right I need the 18v stuff. The drill also has an issue where the chuck wobbles / orbits so drilling anything fine is a little annoying.

i was just thinking about this last weekend as I was tuning up my now 21 year old Craftsman mower with a 6.5 hp Briggs and Stratton engine. Went out and bought oil and a spark plug, cleaned the air filter, and sharpened the blade. As I was draining the erl and gapping the new plug, I suddenly thought how stupid this was. Like these days, with good battery options, it's as dumb as having a a gas vacuum cleaner.

Depends on what you’re doing but for smaller yard residential use yeah battery is the way to go I think.
Haven’t decided yet but I’m looking at the Toro Recycler for the next mower. My current one is a shitty craftsman with a Briggs and Stratton motor but the damn thing won’t die lol.

I have no idea, got it with the house, but the air filter is caked absolutely solid and I have no clue how it keeps running.wap wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 7:39 pmJohnny_P wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 7:18 pm

For a yard your size electric is fine. The worst thing about them is when it breaks, fixing is usually not a DIY operation, and you just need a new one.
