I pulled 535 for a single last week.
We had an amusing little sesh at J Ho's Garage yesterday where he had 135 set up on the bench and it started getting discussed. Multiple of our friends couldn't put up a single rep when they tried.
J Ho says he can do 50+, I wasn't sure if I'm capable of the same. I busted out 30 reps and had a bit more in the tank, but still if I can do 50, I think at least 40+. Maybe I'll go over and try sometime.
I think my tennis elbow is finally back to like 90%. Hit the gym this AM and all felt pretty dece.
I’m gonna start with that set fresh tomorrow after my warmups and report back. I don’t have a spot so hopefully I don’t die.
I was proud of you for the 30. It was fucking sad seeing grown ass men not able to bench half their own body weight in one case. It made me depressed

I managed to strain/pull a pec again today, this time on the left side.
Bench has always been my shittiest main lift, but I'm doing this little four week program that has a 10 minute EMOM with 2 reps each minute, going up 5% of the 1RM each week. I was supposed to do 205 this week after doing 192.5 last week (1.25lb plates are awesome). I barely got my reps last week but hey, the program calls for what it calls for, right? We were traveling with the kids Wed-Sat last week and I'm still not feeling rested, but I went for it anyway. Dumb.
Second rep of round number 8 and ZING! There goes the left pec at the bottom of the rep. But hey, at least I didn't completely tear the thing. If I was actually strong I might have.

Yeah I was honestly appalled that he couldn't get a rep in considering his overall size It makes me think... if I couldn't put up one rep at 95 pounds, (about half my weight) what am I doing?
If you get 50 reps, your theoretical 1RM is 360 pounds

That's pathetic. I'm not saying everyone should make strength a singular focus, but shit man. If you area a dude under 50-60 you should be able to do 75 press, 135 bench, 225 squat, and 315 deads, like, at a minimum. What do they do when quickcreate needs mixing? Call their wifes BF?

I try to listen to my body now. Old Jeremy would just push through shit. For instance, I felt like trash last week because of my allergies. Didn’t lift or run or anything. I wanted too, but I knew if I did I would just set myself back. Same with lifting, sometimes I kinda don’t feel right, and I’ll just lower the weights down or just stop. My body is trying to tell me don’t do this asshole. Every time I push through that feeling, I end up hurting myself. I did it last year with my shoulder. I ended up not lifting from July through almost October.

Those 1RM calculators have never worked for me. Cause there is no way I’m benching 360!! Maybe never in my life!
I was more disappointed in Maxx. He at least works out. I was expecting him to be able to bench his own weight at least. Carl hasn’t worked out since high school.

I love that my gym has 1.25lb plates. It feels funny putting them on, but I’ve seen way more consistent gainz using them vs adding 5lbs to each side a struggling with a 10lb jump in weight.

Same, I've never been strong on the heavy end of things, volume is much easier for me.

Started fresh with this today. Got 37 the first time. 44 on the second try. I feel like if I warmed up more and had someone to spot me I could push to 50

Let's do it for funsies sometime soon, we can spot each other. If we're competing, we may each have a couple more in the tank as well!
Adding some extra volume to my arms. On my A days I’m throwing in an isolation movement with cable extension for triceps after my main triceps movement that day.. three sets to failure, aiming for 15-20 reps to get there. Might drop that down to two sets depending on how it feels like they’re recovering.
For biceps, I’m already doing isolation work for each of my movements, so what I’ll do is add a single set of myo reps after my main rest pause set. The goal will be to hit the same number of reps as I got total for my rest pause set. I might lower the weights slightly to really focus on the contraction, but then it’ll be get as many reps as I can, rest 3-5 seconds and go again until I hit the total number I’m looking for. Similar to the rest pause set, but with much shorter rest periods which will mean fewer reps on each cluster and will make me have to do more of those clusters and keep approaching that failure point repeatedly.

I bet less than 10% of the male population can deadlift 315 but I may be
I have been lifting for 20ish years and was pretty seriously into powerlifting and all things 5x5 and 531 for 5-7 years, my lifetime maximums are as follows:
Press/military: 145 pounds
Bench: 275 pounds
Squat: 315 pounds
Dead: 385 pounds
Some people aren't so much built for it. Either way, being a >200 pound male and not being able to bench 135 is pretty weak, you're there.

I actually love doing that at the end of a workout on my way out of the gym. Just a handful of quick bi/tri cable sets to failure. Those are generally my only dedicated arms movements.

I would wager than less than 10% of the male population can bench 135 as well. I’m calling it sub 1% who can bench their bodyweight.

Probably true. Hell, I lifted like 2-3+/week for YEARS before I could bench my body weight. Granted my 'programming' was questionable, but still, I was def benching.

Although a 75 press is pretty sad, I might be able to do that in one hand with a kettlebell. I can strict press my 24kg KBs pretty easily.
Our numbers are pretty damn similar. My PRs were -
- and when I set all of those I was in college and weighed about 170. I'm 10 pounds heavier now, have a similar BF %, but my squat and dead are both worse now. I can still trap bar DL 315 just fine but I haven't done that much with a straight bar in quite awhile.

I was kinda at the DL and squat peak at like 220 pounds. I think I could probably DL 315 still but and probably not going to try. Not a chance I can squat 315, kinda doubtful on 225/135 for bench and press honestly, but maybe.

Yeah I'd adjust Brad's figures to 135 lb bench, 185 squat, 185 DL. The DL and squat are technical weightlifting exercises that require some muscle training to avoid effing up your back. Is the Kenyan who won the last Boston Marathon a giant pussy because he cannot hit Brad's numbers? He is not. He just doesn't spend his time in his garage in the great Smoky Mountains lifting weights.
