I just wish they it was like 6 feet deeper. The truck has maybe a 1.5' total of wiggle room front to back from the wall to the door.
Skimping on garage size is a national tragedy.
:dat:

The Atlas has the same ~18" of wiggle room in our garage, and it's 30" shorter than a F150 Lightning. Our garage is fucking tiny for a relatively new house.

Homes just keep getting larger and larger for no fucking reason and yet 20x20 is all anyone ever gets even in car dependent AF locations.

CARS MATTER. GARAGES MATTER. This is why 20 car parking next to a pool table, a bed and your kitchen in a giant airplane hangar should be the standard development model in America. Women cause so much waste.

In all seriousness, I think a garage to house SF ratio of about 1/4 works best for most, more if you cannot have a shed for some reason.

Although I really don’t want for space in my 1100 square-foot house. I would be pretty happy with the garage of 600.

yea, there of of course exceptions :lolol: car guy and small house needs MOAR.

The house we built in BR had a 600 sf garage, and i had about 60sf of 10' ceiling attached storage that I made highly vertical and it was just about perfect.

I even had tiny trailer storage

Alright, that's awesome. I always thought something like that would be cool. I've got a friend with a trailer though. Doesn't seem worth it if I can always borrow one for a 6-pack of beer.

Some things are definitely better borrowed than owned. A trailer fits that bill perfectly.

Ignore the garbage cans.

Took awhile a good hour or two to bleed the hydraulic cylinders in the Quick Jacks, but these things are pretty awesome. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I can't believe you've heard of it. Yes, it's a Dayton basketball thing. When you hear the actual origin of it though, it gets even more ridiculous.

There's a small group of us that have been in a group chat for a long time. One of the guys ran a very successful blog about Dayton basketball. It was very crude and hilarious, but had a big following for being mid major basketball comedy blog essentially. Anyways, our fan base is largely a bunch of geriatrics that spend insane money to sit in the lower bowl, because there's nothing else to do in Dayton, OH in the winter. The other half is the younger crowd, mostly alumni, that sit in the upper sections.

Well, one of the more well known fans is an old guy. He would comment on all the team's social media posts (mostly Facebook). He would always tell fans that they should "wear red and be loud". Except this guy isn't the brightest. He would misspell things all the time. It became a joke and kind of a slogan for our little blog. It was purposely misspelled as "Ware Red, Be LOWD", because that's how this guy typed.

It kept growing and growing. The school adopted LOWD as a new thing, without ever knowing the origins. There was a $76M renovation of the arena and it's on one of the walls. It's on the jumbotrons during games. T-shirts have been made. They've talked about it on CBS Sports. They all think it's just our own brand of the word "loud", but really it's just us making fun of mentally deficient, crazy old guy that shows up to every game.

Our little band of misfits have created a lot of bizarre, totally made up Dayton lore that the fan base just picks up with zero idea on how true it is. Made up a fake rivalry with a trophy that gets passed around now, all sorts of stuff.

Everyone who sees my plate are jealous that I snagged it. There's a local billionaire who supports the team. He did a double take in his GT3 RS at my plate

He has a son that's around my age. He definitely knows. He even calls his dad the LOWD Father. Not sure how self aware his dad is though. I think he's aware he's the creator, but I'm not sure if he knows that we're laughing because he can't type for shit.

As the world (or america at least) begins to try and heal from all the destructive green bullshit, Mazda has signaled that they too are over that and will do their best to keep sports cars.... sports cars.

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a6447 ... n-details/

“What defines the MX-5?” asks Umeshita, who moved up to the new role of CTO at the start of this month but has worked for Mazda since 1988. “I would say the most important thing is that it is lightweight," he says, "and that the second most important thing is that it is lightweight."

"That is the key — whatever the future MX-5 is, it must be very light.”

snip
“When I started designing this fourth generation, there was a request from the United States to make the car bigger, and to increase the power of the vehicle,” he says, speaking through a translator. “I said, ‘Do you really want a Harley-Davidson?’”

“When we have to select an alternative out of two, there is a simple principle to make the selection,” says Nakayama. “We tend to select the ones whose parts are less expensive, lighter and smaller. By doing so, we can prevent a car from being too big. When we consider the next-generation MX-5, we are considering making it less than one tonne in weight, and less than four metres in length.”

That’s 2200 pounds and 157 inches, in Imperial units. The comparable quoted mass for the current ND-gen 2.0-liter Miata is 2330 pounds, meaning the next one could actually turn out slightly lighter. Which is why the new car won’t need more power, and will continue to use natural aspiration.
snip
“If we go to Lambda:1, then naturally power will go down,” admits Umeshita. “But in order to avoid that, we have defined the displacement to be 2.5 liters. So the power is very good, and the fuel economy will be very good.”

Even more impressive is Umeshita’s determination that Mazda will continue to combine the engine with a manual gearbox — another thing made much harder by tightening emissions standards. “Manual transmission has the direct feeling, the sense of Jinba Ittai,” he said, referring to Mazda’s expression for the unity of car and driver. “It is key for the package, at least for the MX-5.”

snip
Beyond that, Umeshita says that consideration has been given to a Miata EV, but this is clearly not his favored option.

“If all internal combustion engines were banned, then we would have no choice,” he says, “and of course, our engineering team is studying both ways – battery EV and ICE Miata. But whatever we do, the ICE one is lighter.”
Sure sounds to me like the EV / Hybrid NE miata is off the table for the US market at least. If it does have a hybrid component i bet its VERY light weight and optimised for dynamics, and will only supplement engine power. Think small 1-2kwhr battery on a mild hybrid, which overall would add very little weight as you can eliminate the conventional battery, starter, and alternator.

In other news I will crack 10k miles on my beastie on the drive home from work. I will then (VERY CAREFULLY) put it in the air for an oil and air filter change. It has not quite been 1 year but I still love this thing, I think I can say its my favorite car that I've had. The E89 would be a close 2nd.

:cheese:

:lolgasm: you are truly insane, man.

That said, making the Miata an EV would be very dumb, no one wants that. It is also a pretty dang fuel efficient and non destructive vehicle to begin with regardless of power train. Miatas are not a problem when compared to CyberCucks and Hummer EVs and G Vagens.

Certainly good news that Mazda is planning to keep the NE light and petrol-powered.
