If anything I’m disappointed no one has brought up a V8 vantage manual.
Frankly it’s the perfect car for what I want if I wanted a 3rd car. But once again I’m looking for something more practical and capable of taking the miles and family members on occasion

Having driven an Elise, you're 100% correct on this. It is actually pretty spacious for tall people though, in that sense that we fit, not that it's comfy.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:27 amLotus Elise is actually a decent choice but I think that’s more of a 3rd not second car. I do want to be able to drive it to work on occasion. The Elise is 100% fun and nothing else … I want like 50% fun 25 comfort and 25 % practicality if that makes sensegolftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:06 am
Max hates convertibles and fun in general.
However, I agree this would be an EXCELLENT option for him.
A lotus elise / exige (provided he can fit) is another great option this space. Fun sports car thats virtually depreciation proof.
S2000 is def tiny inside, it's one that works for me just barely and I think you've got 2-3 more inches, so not surprised.
I always forget about these... but man, if you don't want to deal with a 15 year old Porsche, can't imagine an Aston fitting the bill. I'm sure it's much worse to own.

The flip side is that the Aston would at least be pretty nice on the highway, you could commute in it.

On one hand I don’t think it’ll drop super fast at this point. On the other hand I don’t think there are many potential buyers for these. I think most people go straight to a 911 and dont even cross shop this.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:10 amhttps://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... ref=searchgolftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:42 am

To elaborate a little bit on the current picture and situation.
It may seem strange to some but I have near 0 interest in piling on MILES on a special low slung sports car and or driving it daily.
Sure growing up, when I turned 21 I bought myself a C5 corvette and proceeded to daily it .. I mean DAILY. Put 15k miles on it in my first year before coming to my senses. Rain or shine I took that thing to work, to the canyons to street park in SF, everywhere.
It is NOT how I want to spend my time in a vehicle right now. Rough, cramped, loud, scrapy McScrape, fuel inefficient etc. I think there is a time and a place for that and that time is not NOW for me.
I’m currently spending 99.9% of my time driving a BMW minivan with 550hp. It’s fast and it’s comfortable and it does an amazing job at what it is designed to do.
What am I looking for ?
I’m looking for something smaller, lighter, a bit more fun, light ish on the wallet (sub 50k otd), that doesn’t require wrenching, and doesn’t beat me up if I do decide to pile on the miles.
I think the answer has been found. I know some y’all mean very well and are suggesting, more fun, more unique vehicles but they simply don’t fit the current “need”.
We go to sporty and that thing will end up parked causing me count the penny’s because it’s sitting there with no use but still requiring maintenance and insurance. You go too boring ?! And you end up exactly where I am now and
is the point. It has to be a balance.
My situation like everyone’s changes over time and it does prompt some sort of change in vehicle for me … likely going to be doing this again if/when the woman finds a job and the kid gets older and more independent.

Problem is these are garage queen type cars. Paint chips from highway driving behind Cletus in his 2004 Silverado with one working tail light will tank the “value” of it. I think a GTI is a fine choice. They’ve always felt pretty nice, with a good balance of sport versus comfort, and they’re not total putters. Decent back seat too. Like they don’t feel like shitboxes.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:21 am To elaborate a little bit on the current picture and situation.

If I didn’t care about mpg and fuel costs I’d have gone with an Audi or BMW I think. But the GTI has always kind of felt like it’s in that class of car just at a lower price of entry.
You getting the black one?

I always thought hill hold was very sticky in both my Mk7 and 7.5 but fine in my Mk6. The hill hold is fine in the BMW as well.
Speaking of fake AMG's, a buddy of mine just got a GLE53 "coupe" suv and it came with sliding calipers up front. Sliders on a $100k suv!max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 9:24 amBack to the good ol poorsche Argument.golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:21 am maxxxxxx

AMG gt53
Panamera

They are all 50k+ for a non ragged ok example and will continue to depreciate like crazy. I have near 0 interest in a high mile (50k+) German car.

I'd still go for the Hype R as that's a car I've coveted for a long time and it feels a lot more special, but they're both solid choices. Get what you pay for, get something cooler/more special if you're paying more.
Probably not. I had it off the majority of the time because I found it annoying. The good thing is that it was just a button behind the parking brake so if I ever wanted to turn it back on it was just a button press and not buried in the infotainment somewhere.
