Dude. Pure gold. I hope that Max can last past 2055 though, I have high hopes that both that and the eventual 911 pickup are truths.J-Ho-Fo-Show69 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 4:05 pm In my spare time, I’ve been coming up with obituaries for people. Here is one for you Max:
RIP Max DFD (19-something - 2055)
The world mourns the tragic loss (or maybe not?) of DFD Max, who has finally made a decision—though, ironically, not one he had much say in. After years of painstakingly debating which car to buy next, and whether to turn left or right at that intersection, fate has stepped in to make the ultimate choice for him.
DFD Max was a man of many passions, but none greater than his love for cars. Unfortunately, that love often translated into endless hours of research, test drives, and price comparisons, only to ultimately keep driving his old, “perfectly fine” EV sedan. Car dealerships across the city will now see a drastic dip in foot traffic, as their most indecisive visitor is no longer around to “think about it and come back next week.”
He leaves behind a trail of abandoned online shopping carts, half-finished projects, and friends who are still waiting for him to decide what car to buy.
Services will be held sometime next week… or maybe the week after. We’ll let you know once we figure it out. In lieu of flowers, please send a strongly worded message encouraging him to finally commit—to anything.
His last words were fuck Toyota and I should have gotten a 911.
Rest easy, DFD Max. Or don’t. Up to you.

Hahaha. I’m supposed to be running comps for a client, but it bored me and couldn’t stop thinking of max.
Actually, Dan, the first one I ever wrote was for you. It was after biking in Wilmington and seeing you almost get crushed by some chick. I never finished it tho.

Getting nearly killed on two wheels in Wilmy though... I love it, it makes me feel alive.

So I test drove a desperation gray GTI380 with the
and stalled it...
ok that aside..
Positive:
1. This car fits like a glove. Not too big and not too small
2. Ergonomics are excellent, the adjustable armrest and the door arm rests etc are all at the proper level etc
3. It sounds better than the civic, and has some decent noises
4. The shifter is super nice, it is far more notchy than before... it's not overly notchy like the civic but somewhere in between that and mk 6
5. The ride is the perfect firmness... not anus shattering but not super soft either (I once again couldn't tell a diff in the adjustable suspension
6. Interior noise levels are good
7. I can sit BEHIND MYSELF. This is a true 4 seater and will haul a kid in a pinch no problem
Negative.
1. NO VOLUME KNOB. The sliders aren't grand...
2. Depreciation central
3. I heard that this stereo is NICE but honestly it seems MID at best... the IX stereo is like 3 notches above the GTI and it's not even the best one offered.
4. Brake are noticeably worse than the civic despite the advertised 108 feet from 70.
Honestly this car is under appreciated. I rest my case. The interior tech is completely fine if you're used to screen based garbage.. like the one in my BMW.
I am a set it and forget it kind of guy so I have no issues with HVAC blah blah
One thing that tripped me up... I really liked the black on black on black car in the showroom... the SE trim level with the cloth seats + sunroof + stereo is just perfect IMO. I wasn't a huge fan of the "leather" upgrade as it doesn't look as nice as the cloth. And the cloth seats are tri material...
middle suede surrounds and some other type of cloth on the edges. These are NICER than the civic seats IMO. Especially since they carry to the back as well.
One I drove.

One in the showroom I really liked... Pics really don't do any of this shit justice.

My GTI was black with the plaid cloth. And broken sunroof! Had silver wheels though. I always liked the way it looked. I’d have kept it if it wasn’t such a turd to own. I find myself looking at the pomelo yellow MK8’s from time to time.
Did VW ever figure out their pano sunroof drain disaster? My friends Tiguan flooded itself three times in rain storms despite having the drain lines replaced.

I think they look like a GTI which to me is good/a compliment. I don’t really get why everyone hates this gen, although I would prefer a volume knob, yada yada.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 5:54 pm So I test drove a desperation gray GTI380 with theand stalled it...

I don’t really love the primer grey either though. I’d get a red GTI.

Fun cars should be fun colors.
I'm not a fan of black because half the year that mean's I'm getting into a cabin that's 140 degrees. Some cars/trucks really do look great in black.

I hope I left a critical bolt loose on that 328 suspension...
