Autobahn Motorsport: $1k
Thompson Performance Group: $2k
RT Tuning: Unknown. They’ve never done one before but he thinks a minimum 2 hours @ $195 per.
Bimmer Clinic: $360.
Tyspeed: Unknown. Got a message on Thursday saying someone was reviewing it and would get back to me within 24-48 hours. Nothing so far.
If it’s an hour away, can they do it while you wait or give you a loaner car?

I was planning on waiting for it and Bimmer Clinic is an indie BMW specialist shop so no loaner cars. I doubt I’d get a loaner even if I went to Thompson which is the dealer.

I mean if they have a waiting room and you can work remote, :notbad: Or perhaps a coffee shop or something in walking distance. Indy car shops aren't normally places I want to hang out for hours :lolol:

M stuff is lolz. I just did a lot of DIY on the F31 B48. Saved about $2500 in labor. The rear parking brake mount/clip and the infamous plastic oil filter/exchanger housing. Book is like 8 hours for the OFH and 4 hours for cable clip.

The S55 spark plug schedule is lolz. pretty much every other oil change at $800-1k at the dealer. Have to remove the entire upper heat exchanger and cover plates.

BMW maintenance is grand indeed … :disgust: I’m my white in Cali was $1700 for the plugs at 30k

A guy on the G80 boards said they have a brand new swanky waiting room.

Tyspeed came back with a $687.49 estimate after taxes. 3 hours labor so it looks like their rate is $210 an hour. Bimmer Clinic must be 2 hours then because $360 seems like a dill.

:yikes:

I think it’s every 36k for S58. That heat exchanger is in a slightly different spot so it looks to be much easier on this one. Probably still a fortune from the diller though.

The dealer labor quote on Spark plugs for my F30 was $4xx. It took me literally 10 minutes and I’m notoriously slow.

The wife's was $328 (210 labor, 118 parts). the classic $1k+ oil change upsell. I told her to never agree to this with out talking to me, again. Was $844 out the door for about an hour of bs work.

The Toyota diller tried to upsell my wife on a carbon clean for the Rav4. It has both port and direct injection.

Speaking of the Rav4, the power tailgate is on the fritz again. A lot of times in the morning it won't open. I try turning the power tailgate off and on in the settings but it doesn't do anything. Hinges don't appear to have sheared off this time so that's good. This car is a complete pile.

My very close friend has one with 60k miles .. and that thing has started to have a lot of "old car" issues.... Was mediocre for the first 40k .... I think it had a diff an axle replaced.

After 40k
Then mystery CE light that required some sort of Flash...
2 brake jobs by 60k
Rear vents had to be reset multiple times because they stopped blowing air...
AC stopped randomly working also

:disappoint:

I do really like them :doe: but it's probably not wise to get one when I'm going to be piling miles onto it.

It's amazing what a disappointment the Rav4 has been. At 48k now and I really wish I could dump it. My parents picked up an NX Hybrid a few months ago and that's worlds different despite being on the same platform as the Rav. This is actually their third NX and they have had zero issues over 100k combined miles.

There must be something to it. My Rav was made in Ontario although I think some are made in Japan.

It's pretty much my perfect hauler. Plenty of power from that smoooooooth B58. Sounds great. Gets way better than expected mpeegee's and it's the perfect size.

I've always been a german car guy but I really don't know how I can go back to Toyota after I dump the Rav4. I really thought they made a quality product but this car isn't even close. There's nothing quality about it and it's really awesome that the tailgate is deciding to act up again with a :baby: due in December. It's going in for service Friday so we'll see what they say about it.
