Took my winter ramz down to get them cleaned up before I swap in a few weeks. Not sure how I didn’t notice when taking them off but the wheel that had the tire replaced has a weight in the middle of the wheel.

:wtf: I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. There were no vibrations or any issues I could tell when driving. They also left the adhesive on from the old weights which I couldn’t get off with goo gone. I’ll have to get some plastic razor blades.

And if I’m going to :pout: even more, the diller used silver weights while all the other wheels have black. First world problem.

I’ve seen those weights used all over the inside of wheels. At least they didn’t use the outer rim clamp on shits.

What’s wrong with the weight? They put it where it needs to go if it’s not vibrating.

I'm confused. Doesn't ordinary tire mounting require balancing on almost every wheel?

Some balance machines will tell the tech exactly where to place the weight on the wheel, not only on the side, but within the actual barrel.

:dat:

Weirdly enough 2 of them didn’t require any weights when they were initially balanced.

I just have never seen a weight right in the middle of the barrel before. Usually it’s on one edge of the barrel or the other.

I'll let you know where BMW put the weights on my giant EV wheels in a bit (they are taller than my tacoma tires)

weve gone from tunes, turbos, and other general performance modz to wheel weight placement. Wild times.

:notwrong:

Googling and asking our AI overlords, center placement isn't ideal. You'd think a bmw diller would know that.

But it's such a "premium" brand!?!?

These are my first dealings with BMW after nearly 20 years at VW.

Yea I’d say it’s really dealer dependent… I visited 3 dealers with my TDI. And they have been “ok”. But I can’t say any of my 3 bmw dealer visits were any better… hit and miss for the most part …

I still have only set foot in a BMW :dillerman: once, to test drive an S2000. Owned a BMW twice, fixed it in my yard like a poor. That thing was actually very well designed/easy to wrench on, if you're willing to by some torx bitz.

I've got 2 to choose from. The one I bought it from which isn't even M certified or another one that is and has a whole performance group associated with it. They do pretty much everything including t00ns. When I picked up my paint stick from them they had a whole display of HRE ramz in the service department.

Just checked... mine is "m certified" and they totalled my IX. But yea... they actually did an OK job with my mini and m3. I was left with no complaints...

 The clear plastic would probably be good but I'm thinking just a bunch of towels around the base since I can't use a seat protector.

The other day my in-laws were questioning if we really needed an extra base for my car. Absolutely we do. I can't drive the Rav4 every single time we go out with the :baby:

There is no issue with having a :baby: in the car in the first 13 months so far. If you're an able adult you'll properly mount the diapers and have no "blow outs" and you don't give them any food/drinks unsupervised so there is 0 mess. The only "real" issue is that you seat MAY become dented if you perma mount a seat. And of course the occasional scream fest that makes you want to drive the entire family off a cliff.
