Def lost sanity after getting married. Kid didn’t help.golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 3:59 pm quitter. my fun car / bike kept me sane in those early years. Well all of them so far really lol
There is just no time to “enjoy” a sports car and or want. If someone was to get a divorce and try and pick up a gold digger 20’years younger than oneself then yes it would be epic
Coworker whose mommy bought the R53 from got a V8 LR3 a few weeks ago. Sounds like he’s loving it. He doesn’t love the color, but he found a well maintained one owned by an old person, so it’s in an old person color.max225 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 1:26 pm I think mentally I am moving past a sports car in my life at the moment. I just won’t have a use for it until the kid is 3-4 years old, they it will just rot at home. So I’m thinking V8 defender, preferably used at around 70-80k, they are at 95 ish now, unless they have major miles on em. All black murdered out.
Once the bmw lease is done in just about 2 years, woman will take over the defender and I’ll get a real sports car and it’ll be the 2 car solution with the possibility of a disposable EV for commuting that can rot outside. That makes the most logical sense to me.
Why defender ? I love the way it looks and sounds and how practical it is. I can take a road trip, it fits the whole family, it sounds like a P51 mustang, it’s safe, it works for date night, it works for a fun”ish” drive around town. Yes it’s completely impractical from a depreciation and possibly maintenance perspective but … yolo. I also think the supercharged v8 will be a future classic and is one of the most reliable engines JLR has ever made
Thats the thing about a good sports car; its fun everyday. If its too stiff, too hard to see out of, too uncomfortable its trying to hard to be a racekar and is less fun to own.

It can also drive off road. But it doesn't mean I want to do that. Also they are lemming miles at 7am stuckin traffic and some of the worst roads in the nation. This doesn't sound like fun.
My friend sells these and has had battery issues on more than one.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:13 pmto some idea…
Hummer EV … the suv. Seems like it checks a lot of boxes for me… and it seems like a better choice than a defender. Mainly because it’s a lease and comparing fuel+capital costs it’s $800 a month for the fendie (100k@ 5.5% + 400 a month in gas)…
The Hummer is still unique, practical, fun? Remains to be seen. And they are leasing them at $800 a month … so there is not as much of a premium to pay as for the Land Rover product….
Yea… looks like they recalled and replaced all batteries … but maybe they learned something ?!CaleDeRoo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:51 pmMy friend sells these and has had battery issues on more than one.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:13 pmto some idea…

Im younger and im kinda feeling the same way. I landed to jfk from Turkey and rented a basic bitch mitsubishi outlander hybrid (the new one) which is a whole lot better than the one i drove few years ago as the previous gen. Getting back to an accord almost felt like getting back to an older m3, it may sound crazy cause they're completely different. I found the steering to be more heavy (at first) but shortly got accustomed to it. Doesn't help the fact that dc roads are shitty still + road work on main roadsand at times feeling like im at an offroad trail. The cuv's well, i get it now, they are truly nfg vehicles for a good reason.
