OT 21: DFD Giveth and DFD Taketh Away

Sitting on this grand jury selection this morning. Went into it initially hoping I won’t get selected, but checked and as a .gov employee I get full paid time off for any time spent on a jury. As a grand juror I’d be in the courtroom every week day for four weeks. I’ll take four weeks of paid leave from work lol.

How will your work get done?

Oh right... .gov they will figure it out

Luckily for them I’m one of the better/harder workers. Everything of mine is ahead of schedule, minus one project I have with a nightmare client… but even that one I think I’ve found a good path forward with them and should be able to get it back on track. Handing off my workload to someone else should be very easy and manageable for most of the team. There are a few people I wouldn’t want it to go to, but they support other clients than I do, so that would hopefully not be a concern.

I’ve sipped a few home distilled bourbons like you’re mentioning above. It’s kinda eh. Maybe I’m more of a bourbon snob than you.

HHs BnB is solid as fuck. I buy it every time I see it on the shelf. It’s a go to for when I have someone who doesn’t know if they like bourbon to pour them.

I’m a Jim guy myself: knob creek (currently have a few SPs and an 18 year sitting on the shelf), and bookers line nails my flavor profile to a tee (have had every batch every quarter for the last five years)(beaten biscuits being a show stopper. IYKYK)

I can't imagine the Charlotte PD is going to come bust you up for making some booze for personal consumption 10 years is definitely a long wait though, talk about hyping something up!

Over the last couple weekends the Blue Meanie hauled 22 bags of mulch, 78 paver blocks, 4 - 2 x 4 x 10's, 15 - 2 x 4 x 8's, 15 - 3/4 x 6 x 6's, 7 - 3/4 x 6 x 8's for a couple of upcoming springtime projects.

Honestly, who besides tradespeople really "need" a for the vast majority of time.

I got 20 bags of mulch, like five plants, and a propane tank in muh Jeep last week myself, which is basically just a hatchback but more dumb.

Not much to get, they're just a worse alternative to chips.

One thing I've always wondered though, most rinds from gas stations and such show having a decent protein content on the nutrition facts but then have a disclaimer that it isn't a meaningful protein source. Anyone know what gives?

Never eaten pork rinds, but just scoped out a few nutrition labels across brands. Didn’t see that disclaimer, but my only thought is that maybe it’s because the fat content is almost as high as the protein, so you’re getting more fat calories than protein calories

Animal protein should be animal protein from a bioavailability stand point. I’ll look at the amino acid profile of pork skin and see if maybe being skin vs muscle/other organ means it’s not a complete protein like every other meat product is.

But yeah, my initial thought is that it’s just too high in fat to be a viable protein source, unless you’re in keto diet mode like Brad said.
