Car Talk 6: Best of times and Worst of Times

I’ve never driven or knowingly ridden in a car with air suspension before this past week. FIL’s daily driver is an little bit of an older Jag (he’s British, hence the obsession with British cars).. didnt pay attention to what model, but it had air suspension and that shit was butter. Couldn’t feel/hear a single freeway expansion joint and rolled over some pretty shit roads in SD and would have had no idea of how bad they were if I wasn’t looking at them and familiar with driving them in the past. It was thing was a beast too. Think he said it has a supercharged V8 but an extended wheel base makes it a super sleeper looking like a standard soccer kid hauler.

Those are some great tires if you ever hit those WNC twisties! Not necessarily as much if you're out there pounding highway miles.

There are a lot of SUV owners giving up a lot of ride comfort and practical use in exchange for the "look" illustrated by Max.

The gorf was automatic which partly explains why it slayed the type r. The DSG launches hard with AWD and it doesn’t lose boost between lightning fast shifts.

The other is aero. The wang on the R hurts it’s ability to go that fast.

Thanks for posting this... I am going to come in and apologize for the R. how fast it is to 60? You can't launch a FWD car for shit... it seems like there is some sort of limiter for it around 150mph as well because there is no way in hell it is 12 second slower than the golf.

However the elantra N being that close to the HYPE R is not surprising at all... a lot of reviews compare the two... kind of crazy to see the price spread of 15-20k between them once you factor in mark ups.
