Farmers needs to quit littering the fking TV with ads and start providing a useable policy. In fact, I could consider a max $750 payout on a windshield the depths of the bottom of the barrel.

So speaking of insurance… I use Amica for home and auto. I think I mentioned that a tree crushed my piece of shit shed last month. They have paid for every estimate I’ve sent them - new fence, new much nicer and larger building, tree removal. No questions, no bs, I’ve been paid way more than I would deem acceptable, like the fence could be repaired for probably sub $500 but got a quote for an all new privacy fence at $7600, they wrote me a check for that.
5/7 would recommend this company.

I'm 375 miles into driving the Prius Prime in 5 days.
It's rated for 39 miles on a charge (XSE has 19" wheels and loses 3mpg and 5 miles of range over the base car)
I charge it overnight at home on a standard 110 outlet and it takes about 9 hours for a full charge. I have a 48 mile commute 1 way, and get to work using about 40 miles of EV range (it's mostly uphill) and HV for the rest. It's about 6-6.5 kwh for a full charge, and costs me right around $1.40 or so.
I charge it at work for free on a L2 charger and it takes about 4 hours. The drive home is mostly downhill in stop and go traffic, and I've made it home with about 3-4 miles of range remaining every day this week.
I have over 3/4 of a tank of gas remaining. It's a 10 gallon tank - I'm thinking it'll be about 1200 miles between fillups using this charge pattern, so... $65-70/mo in fuel and about $40 on my electricity bill to knock out ~2500 miles a month. For the record, I spent $668 last month on fuel.
It's also... quick. It's got a point and shoot squirt when you mash the gas and you can make a quick lane change and merging isn't a problem. In EV mode it's about 10s 0-60 (on par with my old Corolla Hybrid) but in auto/hybrid mode it will kick on the gas engine with minimal lag and get you there without drama - it's low/mid 6s 0-60 and feels actually quick.

Definitely wondering the same. I have used these guys for many years and for a long time, I'd pumped a ton into it obviously, and never gotten any return. Now in the past year or so, they've had to pay out ~$50K for this and the deer/rental Mercedes incident.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 2:40 amI wonder If you’ll get fucked on renewal or if they will just forgive and forgetD Griff wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 8:32 pm So speaking of insurance… I use Amica for home and auto. 195/50/19 low rolling resistance tires. It's a bit loud on rough roads (more of a Toyo tire issue, the Michelin's are quieter and I lost the tire lottery on that one).
It's nicely isolated from the road, feels fairly stiff and responsive. Steering feel is light, tightens up significantly on turn in and loads up well. In sport mode it adds a TON of weight and feels good. Steering wheel is small, leather, well padded and great adjustability.
Seats are comfy, visibility out front is good (can't see the hood, though, with the wedge shape) and front park sensors are definitely required. Rearward visibility is shit. Thankfully the blind spot/park sensors/lane tracing are well dialed in and not intrusive at all.
Zero wind noise.
No manufacturer can match the braking feel of a Toyota hybrid. It's consistent, firm and the transition from regen to mechanical brakes is almost seamless.
I have the 12.3" infotainment screen, it's lightning fast and snappy - feels like a 120hz refresh rate. The volume button is on the passenger side, so you have to rely on the 43 buttons on the steering wheel.
For a Prius, its absolutely unbelievable. In general, it is a fucking fantastic car.
They really are a great commuter. I even took mine on some back roads outside Philly last week that had some twisties and turn in is quite nice, it feels dece to throw around. Grip from the stock tires on the 17" wheels is VERY low which is kind of entertaining, but you'll squeal the tires at the first hint of aggressive driving.
Honestly engine noise and rearward visibility are the only major dings I have on the new Prius after 800ish miles in two of them. I don't love the dumb gauge cluster but it works fine.

Seems fine for my area then. Can’t really have fun anyway since too many people live here now.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 12:16 pmThey really are a great commuter. Rav4 prime has more dog space though. I dunno. I’ll need a car in like a year or so I think. Since we are moving to the burbs.

I don't hate much about the new prius honestly, as long as it drives ok. Not anytime soon, tho.

Might take you up on that but it’ll be a minute. I’m poor until we sell our Philly house.
In reality I’d love a $15k wagon. But they don’t really exist.

Since some are eager for my turo s5 rental
I actually love this thing. This one is 2018 with 82k miles doe. Interior held up pretty well other than the steering leather surface.
Trans programming is between the way my dsg was vs the zf8 speed on my recent 430i gc rental. Turn in is pretty good, does not feel any way nose heavy, roughly 80% there with the 430i
