I just can’t get into the way this gen looks. I end up liking most cars better in person vs seeing pictures, but I’ve seen a few of these around now and they’re just so :flaccid:
It is a heinous crime against style.
I already eat most of my meals out of Tupperware, I don’t need my car covered in it too.

For $13.5k I'd probably do it. Pay cash, be back to zero car payments, and still have something fun. Plus, :tits: would love a vert. But $20k is :ludacris:

IDK, 35-40 is typically what they go for used.

Yes. I've always wanted one. I've had 2 kit cars chasing that dream of the Atom. Maybe one day. I have no garage now so in addition to finances, mouths to feed, space, and oh yea NO GARAGE, there is no way.

Besides, I'm really happy with my fake rich hooptie fleet at the moment. Next automotive purchase will probably be a new whip for the wife. Then maybe a bike for me with more safety features. ;) Oh and if that track in Crossville ever gets finished a kart or 2 for me and the boy.

for 20k spend 22 and get an ND

REALLY nice low milage NB's can be had for 10k if thats something you'd be into, and its a better car than an NC for anything other than racing/autocross. NC is good at that because you can put TEH MEATS on it and just have so, so, so much grip.

I've never understood that critique. It's 400 pounds lighter than the 86, it's in no way a boat. :iono:

Really, though, if I were to ditch the 86 there are only two realistic options - a S2000 or a STi.

Owning the 86 has made me realize that in terms of a fun car, the powertrain is higher on the priority list than it may be for other people. That probably has something to do with where I live and how I use a car, but at-the-limit handling is less important than how a car feels at 7/10. With the S2000, the engines are just such a joy to rev out, and the gearbox is so unbelievable that at street speeds and well below threshold I can really have a ball. The 86 has to be pushed harder for me to really enjoy it since the FA24 is a pretty meh thing, and so then it has to be about making the car dance, which is rare to be able to do on the street.

The STi would make more sense as far as using it as an actual car. I could take one or two kids with me very easily, I could put a hitch on it for bike hauling, the gearbox is better than the 86 and I enjoy the turbo character of the EJ more than the FA. Purely for getting A to B while enjoying the connection of something a little more old school, that's the car I should have kept.
