Hype R does drive decent mainly because it is a giant car with a long ass wheel base. I would downsize the 20s to 18s with some actual tires if I was to ever get that car.

The main issue on the R remains the useless WANG the useless body cladding and fisher price mismatched interior.
It has civic LX BLACK cloth seats in back and RED AF suede seats up front... no thanks. That's for a 22 year old branch manager of a local tire shop or something.

I still think they look cool. And they are $50K about tire store bros driving them, they normally have clapped out NA/NB Miatas here.

The back seat is definitely a pretty noticeable item of cost cutting.

I think in reality it is like $20K less... but I have zero interest in a pedestrian Civic. You have driven a Type R? It is one of the better driving cars I've experienced - amazing brakes, steering, shifting, also fast.

A Civic EX is also nicer inside than a Ferrari 430 that makes them comparable.

I think in reality it is like $20K less... but I have zero interest in a pedestrian Civic. You have driven a Type R? It is one of the better driving cars I've experienced - amazing brakes, steering, shifting, also fast.

What's not to want? Affordable, reliable, efficient, nice overall package, fun driving variants with decent power options, it's a pretty ideal vehicle for someone who doesn't need something massive. It's pretty perfect for what my needs are shaping up to be.

My list I'm keeping an eye on and hope to get to check out and evaluate over the next few years in order:

Civic Si (next gen Hype R is )
GR Corolla ( could strike and get me in one of these this year, but unlikely)
Elantra N (maybe Veloster N, but they seem pretty rare)
WRX (FE sucks and Subaru giant screen is meh, but whorange so it's on the list)

Yeah it's not a breaker, I would've bought a 2020 version if A. prices weren't insane and B. had been down... there are other ways to carry a bike. That said, roof racks SUCK in comparison to hitch in every way other than scene points.

Japanese domestic market had them on almost all sedans built by Japanese manufacturers. Unfortunately it never cought on here, or more likely was too expensive for us dumb Americans

I rarely see SUV drivers using the rear wiper, it's crazy how little people care about visibility in the US.
