Looks like my “friends” at kpmg are starting to call things down … interesting to note the tax season comment. I’ll be focused on offing the Tessie by then.

Well, MSRP is traditionally a "rip off", but I follow your logic that MSRP really doesn't matter. AND let's not forget what MSRP stands for: Manufacturer SUGGESTED Retail Pricemax225 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 12:15 pm I still don't understand how the Gladiator is selling at 45-65k whereas others are literally 8-12k below that. But I think all of it is a blip on the radar. 2021 will go down in history as one of the strangest automotive pricing years in history.
I people like who REFUSED TO PAY MSRP or A PENNY OVER. Which is bizarre AF to me. If everyone is asking 100k over msrp on a nice porsche and you're getting it at sticker you're getting a STEAL. VS say buying one that no one wants at 5k off sticker.
A lot of people do very inefficient things with money. But that's nothing new.
All that matters is paying a fair market price. Which determining what that is has always been difficult, which is how True Car started before it was forcefully neutered into a lead gen company. The nice thing about the current situation is paying MSRP is now that fair market price. Getting fleeced is paying anything over, which I personally couldn't sign up to do.
2021 will indeed go down as the most year in automotive sales history. I'll never forget making $4.5k on the Cucktrek.

We are a competitor to y'all in some areas and we are raising channel pricing and MSRP significantly, losing the ability to discount in many places, and still have a bunch of product backordered, although we've done better than many. Despite all that, I'm having the best sales month of my life and will be hitting about 200% of quota.

I'm not worried about gas prices, but I am worried about the new one being such a quantum leap over the current one (which would be easy to do), that demand for the last of the 5th gens like mine will be terrible. Give it more than 5 speeds and ~300hp from a Turbro engine, and game over.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 12:18 pm I still think you're going to have a wave of traditionalists keeping current gen T4R values afloat for at least a 2 years until whatever Toyota does to it is proven to be reliable and durable.
People flock to it now because it's tried and tested, and they'll continue to do so for a little while. I wouldn't worry unless gas is suddenly $8/gallon.
It's still the only vehicle on the market I'm interested in, so it's not going to prevent me from pulling the trigger, but it does give me a tad bit of pause. I'm just hoping it'll be a long term move and thus won't really matter.

2006 GTO disagrees.
2004 MSRP: $31,795
2005 MSRP: $32,295
2006 MSRP: $31,290
But yeah, it was an anomaly in the history of vehicle MSRPs.

They're already discounting them, in a market where everything sells instantly and MSRP is a "deal".
The discounts will be real by summer. Morons.
