You're more like the majority of the buying public, which is why these cars don't exist anymore. Nobody wants cheap sports cars. I probably won't buy one realistically because it makes no sense for me. I should have a :truk: before a sports car.
I am really starting to get the wants for an Elise to be honest, but the BRZ is just so much more usable.
I've wanted an Elise since 2005. It's the one car that I have wanted every time I see one. Not that I'll ever even sit in one, but that's the dream car for me. Maybe I'll get a poster to put on the wall.

Definitely going to have to drive a stock one then because that was my least favorite part about the drive. It had to have been the tires.

He had some Fallen Wildpeaks on the stock wheels before these and those were probably a much better compromise than what's on there now. These things were installed the day before I got to drive it. :(
I'd go with the Wildpeaks, personally. Why'd he change? Looks/boredom?
It was a mixture of boredom, looks, and the fact that he "can go anywhere" now.

I've watched off road test videos, the car gives up before the tires are a problem. It's a softroader, no way around that and that's ok because that's all most "offroading" is, really. That mentality is going to get him stuck somewhere.

Most don't take it places that will even get em stuck. It's at home in the parking lot as displayed up above.

The biggest issue I have encountered off road is the actual road condition, when you don't have a durable vehicle the entire car just shakes the FK apart. Nice shocks and giant side walls and plenty of slop in the suspension/steering etc are the only way to make that livable.

Steering felt dead, but it's nice knowing that you can take it soft roading as needed.

@detroit is right in that it's great for what it is. If I end up replacing the Hype R this is a definite candidate. I'd probably miss the power and it felt pretty cheap on the inside, but it would ultimately be a great car for what I need.

I am astonished by the number of Taco, 4R, Jeep, and TRUK bros here who run the crazy aggressive tires that just howl constantly going down the road. Hell, I run 200TW tires all the time on my 'vette and they are nowhere near as loud. It is :disgust:
Yup the first thing most do is “throw away the garbage Toyota put on it from the factory “ then they immediately lose 2-3 mpg but consider it “worth it” because they “look so good”.

Mind you 2-3 mpg on a 18mpg vehicle is horrendous. 15% reduction… vs say losing 2-3 @40 which won’t even be a blip.
I'm in the looks good tire club. The BFG ATs do make some noise but they also drive nice onroad and wear well. Gotta do something to change up the Abuelita Quineanera Soccer Mom vibe.

Nice car, but I imagine the seller is so far up their own ass that they feel it truly is unique.

The driving dynamics are as good as you think they are, it makes a Cayman feel like a :truk: :lolol:

It also makes a C5 feel like Lexus LS in terms of comfort and livability, so it's not really a car one could use as a daily or even go anywhere with a normal wife. If I owned one, I imagine my wife would ride in it like once per year versus maybe eight times in the :poorvette: :lolol:

:dat:

The new BRZ/86 is kind of like the Lotus Emira in my mind. It will be the last of the gas powered, manual, true driver's cars. As much as I like the S2000, it seems like a good idea to get one of these while they exist to get in something 20+ years newer.
:dat:

An S2000 is sort of a bucket list car for me BUT it would have the same (OK maybe a bit less) 20 y.o. car problems as my Corvette and it's pretty tricky to get on track as an over 6' person with a 'vert. I sort of doubt I'll ever pull el trigger unless I'm rich one day and it's like a fourth car. BRZ checks all the boxes, new and reliable, fairly affordable, really fun on street AND track.
That's one of the reasons I'm considering a new BRZ. I'm 6'2". S2000 is tiggggght. And it's loud. It's a fun car, but it doesn't get a lot of use because it's so cramped and loud. A BRZ would get driven more for sure. I used to drive my 2013 BRZ quite a bit.

I saw another new C8 today. Driven by a big ass Saddam Hussein looking guy, who did a minor peel out on launch. Guy was a douche but if we ever start putting money on the hoods of Corvettes again, that thing is a world apart from its predecessors.

They seem great. $80k for a toy just isn't realistic for a lot of people though. I couldn't justify that anytime soon, so it might as well be a million dollars.

A tiny little 3000 sq ft shack would probably be at least $80k cheaper...

I'm convinced 3000 sq ft houses don't exist here. It's either <1700 or 5000+ :butwhy: I still don't know why.

But homes are typically appreciated assets at least. $80k on a depreciating toy hurts a different kind of way.
