Also, Irish, I'm not shitting on your thread topic. It's good stuff.
As a general rule of thumb, and in general company I keep my opinions to myself..... I went further than I intended to here and I vented a bit more about :thankstrump: than I should have

I hope I don't live to regret it but its out there now.....

I do hate the fact that many of us feel we have to tiptoe though...... in a perfect world we (as a people) could express our opinions and beliefs and civilly teach one another a thing or two.... nothing is learned in an echo chamber.....

It's like our sobriety. We can be open about it with certain people, even those that disagree with us, but usually after knowing someone a good while.

People disagree with sobriety? I don't practice it as often as I should but that's personal weakness, not disagreement.

No, not sobriety, being in recovery. I should have worded that better.

A lot of people hold opinions about those who have had or once had a substance abuse problem.

Got it agreed that is fucked. So you slay the dragon but people are better than you for never having had to fight the dragon in the first place? :gtfo: Plus there's plenty of people out there doing enough pills and booze to really make an impression at Betty Ford but these people "have it under control" :yeahok:

Yeah the older you get the more friends you will have that opted out at some juncture. I think I have about 6ish now, not including the aforementioned. Some are just full tilt addicts. Some people just aren't any good at drinking/if it isn't fun don't do it. It hasn't changed my relationship with any of them.

Many people don't even believe that the "dragon" exists..... they see excessive drinking and using as merely a character flaw or being weak willed.

Then again, "they" don't have to know what exactly is killing us.... that part is on us......learn about about the malady, learn how look deeply inward and then take measures to keep the addiction bitch at bay...

The monkey has been off my back for just under 16 years, but the circus is still in town....... (meaning that I am still prone to alcoholic thinking and if I were to pick up, he would jump right back on).

If anyone thinks they may have a problem, either with themselves or a loved one, hit me up via PM. I would be happy to tell you how I stopped and how I stay stopped.

Looks like an attempt to censure her was made in the House and it failed with the vote falling along party lines.

So, there you go. The scales of justice are balanced once again.
