Thanks. Gotta go back in 6 months instead of the year I was hoping for.
Seems there has been an increase in the pressure gradient, which I take to mean back pressure, in my new valve. Pre surgery it was 60. After surgery it was 12, nice drop, which is what you'd expect considering the narrowing of the old valve and the free flowing nature of the replacement. Well, the pressure gradient this morning tested at 20, so it's up from a year ago. According to my cardiologist, it could be for a couple of reasons. The best one being that my heart is simply stronger now than right after the surgery and is just pumping more blood. Also, the new valve can take some time to "settle" and shift a bit, just like a new apparently, and this could just be my new normal. Worst case is a build up of blood clotting on the new valve leaflets which are restricting blood flow. A new echocardiogram in 6 months should clear up the situation. If it's still in the ~20 range, then it's my new normal and I can for a while. If it progresses to, say, 30 or so, then the clotting issue will need to be addressed. Likely with coumadin.

Here's hoping it's just the new normal. Being on anti-coagulants would be no fun IMO.wap wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 12:20 pmThanks. Gotta go back in 6 months instead of the year I was hoping for.

Had to be on coumadin for 3 months after the surgery. Those weekly finger stabs to check blood thinness, frequent dosage changes because my blood got so thin it caused bloody was not fun.

Saw my first mask karen at Costco. She was giving the manager a bunch of shit over being asked by the employee at the entrance to wear the mask. I chuckled but let the off duty cop working the store outside that he might get called over a Karen throwing a fit about the mask. He kinda laughed and said thanks for the heads up.
First real display of bitching about masks I’ve seen in public.
