I still want one.

This thing is getting to be 8 MY old... with nearly no changes.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 6:47 pmLCIs are never substantial overhauls, just lipstick and a nip/tuck.
First gen was 6 years
Second gen was 7...
Third... looks to be @ 8 and kicking..

that JCW I posted the other day is $32k. If I could get a brand new one with no options for nearly that, I'm intrigued.
Moot point because I'll be living the cucktruck lyfe eventually, but a man can dream.

You'd probably have to special order. As mentioned the issue with mini's is "options" it becomes "less" of an issue now that they made a few things standard. But there options are what make mine as opposed to something that feels cheap.

I'm not familiar enough with them, but I don't really give AF about features. I just want that's quick, fun to toss around, and makes fun noises.

Sorry, I meant what's the point of the car if it doesn't make fun noises? I'll just buy an EV at that point.

So the "life hack" is to get the JCW PRO exhaust and the Mini tuning module. Which raises the hp from 189 to 211 or what not... this can be applied to any 2014-2019 Pooper S.
Also this will keep things nice and reliable and a bit of fun. The pooper S should be easily had for 12-14k with sub 50k miles. +1k for that combo... and perhaps maybe even a bit less. And you're good to go.

This will still be my realistic run car should I ever get the chance. Tremendous bang for the buck IMO.

Depends on how configurable they are.

People were by that big ass center speedo, and consolidating above the column just didn't work well IMO. I loved the column mounted tach with the little digital readout set to read speed. Was perfect for me.
Damn, I want an R gen.

Hence the tips and tricks for ya. I ended up going with the JCW because I wanted the bigger brakes/power and some exclusivity... in retrospect I think a cooper S is a superior value. especially for a throw around thing.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 9:30 pmmax225 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 9:17 pm

I think the mini people actually loved it... Come to think of it... my mini has lights in the center screen that go up with RPMS (customizable) so technically that can be used as a tach also...
I honestly would go with the F gen because IMO they hit the sweet spot of depreciation. You're legitimately getting a near new car, even with warranty frequently for 1/2 to 1/3 of MSRP. R gens have mostly gone through shit owners at this point and are neglected (Unlike our Zillskie one, even though he is unfucking it himself also)

It's the most likely scenario if my wife stops being a funsponge. MINI has always been on my bucket list, and they're ridiculously underappreciated these days.

Same with me. I scratched the itch and so far am not regretting it. It’s cheap fun. I’d say 80% of the fun of the m3 @ 1/3 the price

+1 would be nice to get more of the mini gang in here. They are the last “cheap” enthusiast cars on the market

We'll see. My only hope is the cucktruck fails and I can make a case that having a MINI that's easy on gas to drive down state in, and some old clunker work truck to haul shit would be optimal.
