Challenges are how your company would handle it and how you maintain presence. Mail and whatnot would go to your "primary" residence.

You'll do just fine. Despite what it seems, you don't need to become a dick to manage people. Business as usual with a little more coaching...unless you end up with a shitty direct report.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:05 pmThanks man.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 2:49 pm
If you're worth a shit you can't just lay on the beach drinking Mai Tais forever. Getting promotions without being an ass kissing self aggrandizing fool is the way to do it Dan, congratulations.
I'm kind of nervous to manage people, particularly one who has become a friend. , guess you have to be forced into uncomfortable positions to grow.

Can you rent out said property while claiming it as your residence?Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:07 pmIf you have a place to receive mail and have what it takes to change your residence officially (drivers license usually requires proof of residency like a utility bill, rental agreement, etc), that's all there is to it. It seems like this could be a good gig if you get a cheap investment property somewhere, particularly if you make a lot of dollars. My state income tax isn't all that significant but I am a mere peasant compared to Max.

This is mainly due to my woman... who is making more than double what I make... I don't think renting is an option because that is not the appropriate way.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:13 pmCan you rent out said property while claiming it as your residence?Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:07 pm

I don't see why not. As long as you meet the requirements for a driver's license in the state, it should be doable.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:13 pmCan you rent out said property while claiming it as your residence?Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:07 pm

It seems like a pretty fine line, really it is all fraud if you don't actually work there.

Biz analytics. No one "actually works" in any office at this point. But I think the idea would be to get another residence and actually spend time there. I think "renting it out" creates the wrong sort of paper trail.

Unless you move there permanently, it's technically fraud. Your basic question was around the gray area yes? But it's a big gray area exploited by the rich all the time.

That's what I figured.
What is the state in question, NV?
You see it a lot here where people have lake houses in SC (lower taxes, not none) and spend the weekends there but claim residence versus their NC homes where car taxes and income taxes are higher.

Exactly. Thinking Nevada. We'd get drivers licenses etc.

Well if you're collecting rental income and spending 0 days in that house that seems like a really unreasonable thing to do... But I hear ya. I am trying to be within the realm of the law.

Rent it on Airbnb when you're not there so it's not just sitting vacant when you're not there. Then your house in CA becomes your second house officially.
People do this all the time, especially where I live.

AirBNB idea is very good. My only hesitation would be having randoms in my own actual house. My sister and BIL do this when they go on vacation which is a bit to me, especially given they have their three kids living there as well.

We were going to get together with some friends this weekend. She's a doctor and he's some kind of scientist so they're obviously hip on taking all proper precautions, but he has asthma issues and they decided to postpone until he gets the vaccine, just to be safe.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:06 am

3-5 inches of unexpected snow today. Lake effect is pretty wild.
