Find a :unicorn: 2004 Cosmos Purple GTO with the purple interior.

I actually think this is fantastic...would love one, even though nobody else would. :lolol:
A Cosmos Purple GTO with a 6 speed :manuel: is becoming rather sought after due to it being the only one with a unique interior color.

“Enthusiast logic”.
Car comes out ...
“Ew who wants that color, purple?! That’s hideous and I can’t explain it to my sig other, who would but that”
“Oh wow manual seats in a $50k car what a travesty”
“I want the automatic because it sucks commuting in one, and the clutches fail due to shitty driving antics”

Used market 5 years later:
“Omg, 1 of only 3 manual purple, no option manual cars, shut up and take my money it’s beautiful, it’s worth tripple of an auto black one”

:notwrong:

Pretty much any new car with a :manuel: and a color is a great buy because of this.

I think I am officially out of the game though, nothing today or moving forward really interests me. I'll be in old shitboxes for the next 20-30 years while I still can be, and then I will just give up I suppose.

Yep. Hence why manual SS sedans are still $40k 5 years later while the auto cars are dipping into the 20s.

Cool video that sums up a lot of the car scene well.
2010 Audi TT APR Stg1 (sold) >> 2012 BMW 335i FBO (sold) >> 2009 Miata zoom-zoom spec "Cheese" (sold) >> 2022 Hyundai Elantra N + 1999 Miata Maacover Project

Those seats look magnificent.
Some of the best ever. Even the back seats were heavenly.

Yup. The rear seats are a bit of a pain to get to, but once you are back there, it is comfortable. I have friends over 6' who have no issue with the GTO's rear seats.

My car is so disgustingly filthy from snow and salt. Washed it Monday and it's dirtier than it's ever been already.

Yes it's hard to judge the value of this car. It's in fantastic shape, but 231,000 miles.

Mileage doesn't matter if it's been maintained...usually required maintenance is more than people are willing to do, which drives the price down as mileage goes up.

Had a Semi blow a tire in front of me today and clattered over the carcass in the Corolla today. Haven’t even made the first payment and already gonked up the front bumper. Oh well.

I’ve got 2100 miles on the car so far and just filled it for the fourth time. The commute is 45 miles each way and is now down to about 55 minutes vs 1:30 thanks to Covid/work from home in the major Philly areas I drive through.

The Corolla has been awesome. I’m getting 500ish miles to a tank cruising at 75-85 for the commute, in cold weather. Appear to be averaging 50mpg. $26/week in fuel costs to fill the 10 gal tank once a week.

What a great appliance.

I often do waves of this type of commuting, and really appreciated my TDI both for reduced frequency of fills and miles/fill (which sat about 75 miles higher per tank then your corolla), fills were $65/tank (15.x gal).

Doing this many miles really starts to add up, especially in something that isn't economical. Most people doing this type of driving is something like a :truk: blow my mind honestly. Maybe they often don't have a mortgage :iono: ?

Can I assume that insurance will cover the bumper?

Insurance will, but I’m just going to replace all the broken under tray parts and I have our mobile bumper repair guy coming by tomorrow to spot repair and paint the bumper cover. I can probably have it looking 95% for $150. Given the road rash the car is going to continue to see, it won’t need to be perfect.

Wow 2100 miles ? That’s :impressive:
Bumper stuff while really annoying on a new car as such, is expected with these types of miles. Unfortunately the car will continue to be pummeled. But that’s what it’s designed to do
