I witnessed an indian summer , felt weird and it was hot in late october for the last 3 days, lots of fog felt like I'm in vietnam, although it is 55-60 at nights. Now it's more 65 at highest and 55 low. Swam in those days, water was cold but not far off from freezing.

x2 on Private school and shoes were the only way to really express yourself.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 12:10 pm I am kind of a shoe guy/geek... I think because I did K-12 at Catholic School and shoes were the only non- mandated item, I have always enjoyed them, so I will speak up here.
Boots-wise, yes, support over the ankle can make a huge difference, especially when you're working with strange ankle angles, on uneven terrain, etc. I have some Columbia boots I bought at their outlet that have been great for me so far, they are nice in that they are a bit of sneaker-feel but still offer the ankle support and increased traction.
Running/walking wise I would second that Brooks are some of the best, I'm on my second pair of their running shoes and they are excellent. I have also had good results with Aasics and New Balance. Nike and Addidas are fashion brands, I would avoid for longer walks/time on your feet, save them for style when you won't be doing a ton of walking. Same with Vans, I own a couple pairs and love the look, but they are garbage on your feet. I really like Etnies Jameson Eco 2 for a nice looking skate shoe similar to Vans but is actually comfy and can be walked in over long distances.
Good notes man, I appreciate the info.

Still no snow in the "great white north". It's actually 42 and sunny right now.

I had to wait in line to vote today, it was the first time I've ever experienced that joy. Naturally it was damp and 45F.

People have a right to protest...and it can be effective at moving the needle for policy decisions.
The problem is, looting makes no sense and obviously isn't a "right". It's a fine line between peaceful protest and rioting/looting it seems. Both sides need to chill out and be more civil...the opposite of what this country has turned into, sadly. I'll never be able to get behind the use of US military force against US citizens. That's very wrong to me.

Look, those protesters were infringing upon his right to hold a bible upside down in front of a church.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 3:39 pm People have a right to protest...and it can be effective at moving the needle for policy decisions.

But on the flip, the dude had a knife...he could have been tazed instead of shot perhaps...Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 3:46 pmI just heard about it this morning.

The biggest issue is none of us will know the true situation. Everyone armchair quarterbacks these events when there's a lot of factors at play outside of the cold hard facts. Hard to say that anyone's to blame except for the dude that was IGNORING POLICE ORDERS. If I charged a cop with a weapon (any), I'd expect to die.

It's a gorgeous fall day here. Honestly, in general the weather up north is nicer than the crap downstate where it's perpetually gray.

The looters are not the same people as protesters in most cases.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 3:39 pm People have a right to protest...and it can be effective at moving the needle for policy decisions.

Having a few cops in the family, the issue is that tazers don't always subdue. I have also been told stories of people who took more than a few bullets to go down. Now, I'm not saying that their process is perfect, but the armchair quarterbacks tend to think that it is easy to just shoot someone in the leg or tazing is 100% effective.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 3:51 pmBut on the flip, the dude had a knife...he could have been tazed instead of shot perhaps...Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 3:46 pm

Personally, while it is tragic for the family, I can't muster up the same feelings as the George Floyd incident invoked.
