Is London far enough East to get sun like Toronto? That's the problem with Windsor, it's super gray. Not as cold or gray as Corning but still depressing IMO.Tarspin wrote:On my way back from there I stopped and ate in London and fell in love with the place. It has a really nice culture. I'd move there if work and family connections could be maintained. I think it's my new favorite but really like Georgetown which is where I've been living since November. Its close enough to Toronto without being in the city and it has a neat downtown area where everything is close but not congested. Still Toronto pricing thoughtroyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 11:56 am I liked Windsor in the little bit of time I spent there but it was 15 years ago and only a couple of days.
London, Ontario was also nice for a weekend.
Both were basically crap vs Toronto

Ahh yeah I haven't looked at hotels in 2020 since the wife won't go anywhere. VRBO/airbnb seem to still end up at $100+/night the few times I've looked during daydreams but that's been at beach locations.wap wrote:In June when we took our little road trip around Illinois we were staying in Hamptons for around $85-ish/night. I’ve been to London, Ontario before! It was a fast weekend picking up and car and towing it back to the states.
But I can’t think for myself and need others to do so for me. Someone else tell me how it was?

I'm not sure about the weather sitch, weirdly enough Guelph which is sort of in line with London but further east is in a crazy snow belt, ten min further south and you go from dry roads to a foot of snow on some occasions. It brings up a good point about pricing. Hmm.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 12:16 pmIs London far enough East to get sun like Toronto? That's the problem with Windsor, it's super gray. Granted, our sub-$100 rates in June were in smaller towns and college towns downstate. That may have played a factor, too.

I stopped in London, ON once. We decided to grab lunch at a bar there on our way to Toronto. The bar itself was 5/7, the food was 3/7. Not sure I'd recommend spending time in London, ON...but I could see potential there if you were somehow stuck there.

Wife and kid got COVID tests. Looks like we will know in 4 DAYS! Bleh.
I'm taking the older one to the cottage, we will play video games and chill.
This really messes up my jobs, hotel is non-refundable so I'm just going to eat that. Jeez.

We have 15-minute tests here. they are a bit more but worth it for a quicker response.

They are falling behind with kids back to school and testing for every cold they catch (like us), but I really don't know why they don't have a better handle on it here by now, 15min is a dream right now!

Sioux City South Dakota. I just gotta get eff out of here. End of October Meeting a buddy from college and going pheasant hunting with his dad for 5 days. The drive is 24 hours. Driving there would be fun. Two twelve hour days on the back end sent me to the loving arms of American Airlines. I have a $910 credit from a trip I had to cancel this month to Louisville. First Class to SSSD is $726. I'll just wear an N95 the whole time I'm on a plane Probably the cleanest airplanes have ever been.

I proposed being in the corn stubble with a shotgun on election day but my buddy's dad wasn't down with that plan.
