The problem with adding a supercharger is that you're adding so much power you have to look at everything else. In the truck it would be the transmission and cooling system. in the Corvette it would be the clutch and the cooling system. And frankly I'm probably devaluing a car that hasn't lost much of its value in 5 years. An A&A supercharger in the Corvette would be cool, but at some point you have to cross shop a C6 ZR1 or C7Z. Everything in a C6ZR1 is overbuilt......its a kick ass car.
that is normally the issue with these things, you could go buy a better car. I certainly don't have interest in going beyond stock power in my Corvette given it has plenty to be fun and it runs at the brink of overheating on track as-is. That said, once I made some minor tweaks, the thing pretty much runs like a tank and takes MAJOR abuse. I love these cars, hence my interest in other GM shit.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 1:33 pmThe problem with adding a supercharger is that you're adding so much power you have to look at everything else. Cmax CEL is on again. Checked coolant, dry as a bone. So it’s got a coolant leak somewhere. Shop I took it to last time said it was the radiator drain plug. It’s plastic and was leaking, they put an o ring behind it which helped but seems it failed again. Yay plastic fraud parts.
Really don’t need to spend $1k on a fucking radiator for this car right now. Once I get a job I’m re assessing our family car situation and hopefully dumping that turd.

For JP, something like a Rav4 or CRV makes the most sense as a family vehicle IMO. Maybe a Forester?

Depends. Only car? Sure, Rav or CRV type thing would be good. If its two cars, she needs a cheap shitbox because she literally gives no fucks and treats cars like crap. She felt nervous driving her Tiguan around because it was a nice car, and a lease that she was responsible for any damages on return. No idea why that mentality doesn't transfer to her own vehicle though, as it plays into resale. I'll be lucky to get $2500 for it on a trade.

She can drive whatever she wants as long as I don't have to fix it continually.
WK2... eh. I don't need the capability at all, interior is tighter than a Rav4, and MPG would likely be single digit whereas the Rav hybrid would do 40 city.

Most used cars out of warranty will require about 1-2 repairs a year. You can just calculate that into the "cost" of the vehicle. 2k a year or $150 a month...

Car is at a mom and pop shop for state inspection. Needed new front rotors and pads.
I don’t believe this but I’m at the mercy of the shop to pass or fail me. And they’d fail me if I don’t get it done. Car has 18k ish miles on it. No way it needs rotors.

I never really noticed how bad the roads were there when I was driving the Bang Bus but man... they are shit. The Corvette really amplified it. What a terrible place to own a car.
