Yes I wouldn't mind that, or if I miss having a truck.

I bought some trukz. Got a gaggle of 99/2000 1500 Rams at the state auction, the two in the pic together were something my dad wanted but until he signs the title they're mine since I paid lol.
So you bought three Ass Rammers, one for you, two for your dad?

What is the conventional wisdom on 7.3 vs. 6.0 vs. 6.7? I get cornfused on the "desirable" powerstrokes versus the ones that are supposed to cost thousands in meltdown money.NeonJonny wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 2:23 pm Ah very clean. Such smol. Yeah there's not much desire for those. Similarly priced here. The 2wd crew cabs are 10k here and 4wd 7.3l crew cabs fetch anywhere from 15-20k. Infuriating. My fiancée wants the long bed as opposed to the chode bed. Her words not mine.

He's been looking for something to fix and flip, and was willing to take a gamble on what they would need. I snagged the one for me since I've had a hankering for a yard beater/farm truck. It was even more of a wanted purchase after borrowing a friends Silverado and another friends utility trailer to help with my current home reno projects.

12V refers to the valvetrain (2 valves per cylinder). Every doge w/ Cummins built between 1989-1998 has this configuration. All engines during this period had mechanical engine driven fuel injection pump. Displacement is 5.9L
1989-1993 had a Bosch VE44 rotary style pump
1994-1998 had a Bosch P7100 inline injection pump (often referred to as a p-pump)
Additional difference in these models include the turbo and air system
1989-91 was non-waste gated, non-intercooled
1991.5-98 waste gated and intercooled - also some differences in turbochargers and waste gate controls in this era
24V (4 valves per cylinder) was introduced in 1998.5 - still 5.9L
1998.5-2002 had an electronically controlled Bosch VP44 injection pump (these where kind of a piece of shit, if the pumps lost fuel supply they would self destruct
The pumps themselves weren't bad, but the fuel supply pump that fed fuel to the injection pump was a piece of shit. $$$$ to fix).
2003-2007 Bosch High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel injection - this works similar to how direct injection on cars works today, but with way more pressure (36,000 psi)
2007.5 to current, displacement was upped 6.7L, and still HPCR injection. These engines all had EGR and exhaust aftertreatment systems.
The p-pumps are desirable because they're highly tuneable and are capable of delivering tons of fuel. Adding a 24V head adds to the potential (not the easiest swap, but doable)
HPCR engines are also highly tuneable with a bro-grammer and are pretty dang reliable.
VP44 engines are also capable of making good power, but as mentioned, their fuel pumps are made of glass.

Thank you! A friend of mine bought a brand new 1995 Cummins manual regular cab long box 4WD back in the day. It was quite the truck at the time. The problem with all of these is finding a Cummins with a Dodge wrapper that has not disintegrated. Interesting that the original 12V is so desirable. I'm not too sure I would reallly need to make more power in the current offerings.........850-1000 torks seems adequate.4zilch wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 9:22 aminhales deeply

Got the truck to the house, tossed a battery in it and the damn thing fired up and ran great. Blew a rubber brake line on the pass front that I'll replace and needs some ball joints (to be expected)
So far I say its a win.

The thing looks incredibly rust free.

I've been seriously considering a super cheap work pickup, problem is we use the pickup for camping, and I don't know how i feel about driving a $500 truck 1,000 miles in a weekend.
