:dat: I don’t prefer to have nav on all the time. Occasionally I know generally where I’m going but there might be a road or two in less familiar with, I can think “Major XYZ Road is west of here, compass says I’m heading north, so turn left and I’ll get to where I need to be”.

:iono: :okboomer: ?
EXACTLY.
I certainly don't run my nav all the time and have no idea if I'd have AA running all the time, either. Do people routinely hook up their phone and turn on ACP/AA EVERY time they get in their car? :iono:
It wouldn't surprise me if :crang: -type :millennial: s do not know how to use a compass.
There are some people I know that always open Waze all the time as they drive, and it does really benefit them, especially when Waze alerts objects and what not, which I think it's pretty :neat: especially when you care about your car. I don't turn it on when I drive unless if I have to get somewhere faster since it does alert cops for me, so waze is essentially my "radar detector" since they're illegal in my state (mind you I don't go ham at 100 mph or even at 90 on the highway and treat other cars as obstacles). Also whenever I drive to DC and certain parts of MD where it is known to have speed cameras, I use dat as well. Whenever I commute, I just take a quick peek on googlemaps to see how bad the traffic is, in case if I take alternate routes to get home faster.

I also too use a compass as well.

I run with Waze up at all times usually. I care less about the 5-0, unless I"m not local. I mostly like it for hazard heads up.

Speaking of Waze, did you see that Apple added support for maps other than Apple Maps on the dashboard? Google/Waze just don't support it yet.

VA cops don't fuck around period. As I've said before, least favorite state to saunter through.

Speaking of which, when my mk6 was new. I was driving home and I saw a mk5 GTI with the same color as me, intentionally cut off a dude in a Traverse, the traverse accelerated as the fuckboi mk5 was changing lanes. Honking and flipping was involved. About 2 miles down the road, I saw a cop gotten behind me for around a mile and flipped the lights on me. Telling me that my car fit the description of a road rage incident, which makes sense. Since I was only 20 years old, of course the cop did had a hard time to believe me, so the cop checked inside my car which fortunately I don't have anything. He was cool overall, or so I thought. About 20 mins later and 3 cops behind me, it was concluded that the fuckboi was caught and charged with aggressive driving with mandatory court date and I was off the hook. BUTTTTTT, I got cited for evil eye bead bracelet hanging on the rearview, which was $90 :wtf: but I wasn't in any mood to argue with a cop especially I know for sure it'll go downhill anyway so I :dealwithit: and move on.

Fairfax City Police to be exact, it was just down the street from that 2 story Starbucks we went to one time and this knick knack store next to Walgreens. Yeah I remember that.

:narc: handled it like a boss and told the cop first hand that he has a legal firearm before the cop proceeded, I remember he sent me a dash cam video of it.

Ah. That’s the right way to do it in my book, unless the cop is a jerk from the start. I’ve only had one traffic stop where I didn’t tell the cop.

I pretty much knew why I got pulled over and gave him my honest story (I was literally on the way to get tacos from Taco Bamba). My phone has google Maps open and it said “YOU ARRIVED TO TACO BAMBA!” (He pulled me over in the back alley of the plaza where the taco place was).

I told him I was going a bit too fast and I apologize. Never drove those residential roads at night and was rushing to make it before the place closed (9:30 pm). He came back with a summons and said “you were polite and honest and I’m in a generally good mood so I’m giving you a warning”.

I pointed to the summons and asked “is there anything I need to do with this?” And he said “frame it” so I laminated it and it’s in my office at home :lolgasm:
