It’s fine. The shift quality issues on the auto’s were fixed for 2020. It’s otherwise completely unremarkable. It tries to keep revs low and changes gears when it needs to. The truck feels better in the “power” mode... holds the revs longer and keeps them up in the power band more.
The manual is solid. Fairly light clutch, gears are easy to find... just... what you’d expect or want.

If you put it in power mode does it stay there next time you turn truck on? Or you have to press each time?fledonfoot wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 9:21 pmIt’s fine. Datsun Frontqueef in 2wd will fit that bill... everything else worth a damn is more expensive[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 9:59 pm I’m beginning to have a need for hauling landscaping stuff in an open bed from time to time. A truck is inevitable for me.
Problem is finding a viable one that’s not a fullsize at $15k or less.

Just casually keeping my eye on the Frontier/Tacoma market. Lord help me if I end up in a 3rd Frontier.

There is nothing for under 15... I have been looking for 6 months. Unless you’re willing to put up with 150k miles ...[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:18 pmNeed 4wd and need a V6. It snows here and I still have the tiny camper.

Why not full size? Full size would be ideal for landscaping wouldn't it? Tow ratings and payloads are vastly higher. They're also more durable as workhorses in general. Like sure a Frontier can probably take 1k in the bed, but it'll be pretty stressed at that point. An F150/silverado can take 1k in the bed every single day and be fine with it.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 9:59 pm I’m beginning to have a need for hauling landscaping stuff in an open bed from time to time. Ah ok. Yeah, they are really gigantic.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:27 pmI won’t be using it for jobs really, but occasionally I do have a need to throw chainsaws and other equipment in the bed.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:24 pm

I just really don’t want a full-size due to size. Modern fullsizers are massive.

It’s 14 years old .... damn still 50% of msrp. Why don’t you lease for $3xx a month ?[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:35 pmI’ve set some basic criteria:
Under 100k miles
Clean Carfax (minor damage reported ok, depending on price)
4wd and V6
Preferably not black or another color close to black.
If a Tacoma, must have had a new frame installed
Been watching this one, had Fled check the Toyota service history. Has a new frame and good one-owner dealer history.

Priced really high. I can smell the stench in that truck from here. I wouldn't pay more than 6-7k for a tacoma in general though.

Dang man, tough spot to shop as you’ve got your poverty level sub $10k trucks and your new options, everything in between is near poverty quality for near new pricing.
Pull a Mini move and find your old Frontier and re-acquire?

My listing was a joke but have you at all considered buying one out here or arizona? Flights don't cost much. Now is the time to take advantage of buying out of state away from rust ridden specimens. Do you think they'll cost more out here with the same year/mileage?
Full sized trucks definitely are a pain to park. Not as much fun either to wheel. Are the new silverados bigger than say a 2005 model year?
Speaking of silverados some old man backed into my mom's fusion yesterday.
More truck news...I'm getting my marriage license on Tuesday at Honda Center (Duck pond) so I just might go look at a Ferd on the way home.

First gen Tundra? The tweener model? Not sure what the market is on those[user not found] wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 9:36 amJust the tiny house.
I've given thought to a fullsize a couple times, but then remember how yuge they are and get
It's beyond my needs and they're annoying to park.
