Here's the baseplate. It uses some obscure screw though.

The new key I got for the MBZ is AF compared to the old one. Chrome bits, fancy buttons. I just put it in the drawer and use the old one.
Day lolol. It's proximity based wap. You can't start car unless key is INSIDE car. It is constantly emitting a signal.

Who said anything about trying to start the car? I said I tried to proximity unlock it by grabbing the handle while the fob was up in the kitchen. It didn't unlock so I concluded that the fob was out of range of the car and thus not constantly draining the battery over night.
really? You have sensor all over your car for security. It's all proximity based.wap wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:39 am

Don't me like a
You can only do certain actions with key in correct proximity. Can't start car unless fob is INSIDE and not out. Can't lock car with fob inside it. It tracks proximity to door and cabin. The fob is 100% always emitting a signal hence the battery usage. Mercedes and BMW combated this year ago by having slight wireless charging in fob. Vw just uses a cheap replaceable battery.

Dub show was basically saying the battery drains the same because the key fob is constantly emitting a signal to verify whether it is within proximity to function.
The doesn’t automatically switch on when you are in proximity. Both the car and the key are emitting a signal and when that signal overlaps they work as intended.
Whether you keep the key fob 5ft away or 500ft away it will still emit a signal to ensure it is within range or not.
The “new” key you bought was probably new but the battery was old because it wasn’t programmed for x amount of time, but still emitting a signal in the dillerman locker.

I know. I was just answering this post from Gberg and wanted to know if the key was close enough to the car to make the proximity unlock active:razr390 wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 12:59 pm

The other key was apparently dead and they didn't tell me until after.wap wrote:Took a little drive tonight to finally check out deez LEDZ. Gotta say, they're pretty . The halogens on the Mk6 were really good, maybe the best halogens out there, but these are definitely next level. Possibly better than the LEDs in the H, which are also pretty excellent. And Rudy, I see what you mean about the car having turning lights in the clusters. Also discovered that the car has the leaving home and coming home features. So much .
On a note, I'm already getting a notice in the MFD that my new key needs the battery replaced.
Also, do you store your keys close to the car? It could be battery drain from the proximity key.
