I dig them on 35s too. The fact a 35 fits in the stock spare location is a nice perk.
:notwrong: in the least. I'd prolly do the 35 route if I ever got one.
It's the perfect compromise on these, and probably the route I'd go as well.

But they do look best on 37's, so there's a good chance I'd just :doit:

Yea I immediately noticed the higher comfort level in the JT vs JL. But there are other DD issues like parking spaces/u turns etc. but I guess the taco isn’t that big. I certainly can’t do a full sized truck, that’s a legit issue for me. Taco is ok.

Also I’m not really looking to crawl, just having the Jeep creates a significant safety margin because you’re further from the limit than you would be in a taco. I don’t like “at The limit “ driving of any kind. I.e I’m not going to crawl a brand new 40k taco
Honestly, the "limits" of a higher spec Taco or a Jeep are both really high. The pure fact that you plan to take :tits: with you is enough to keep you WELL below the limits of either vehicle stock.

To me, because this is purely, as you acknowledge, a WANT, you should get the vehicle you actually want. You have been talking about Jeeps for five years and talking about how pickups are trash for 10 years, so I just don't see it with the Taco, but if you like it/want it, why not? I don't really understand the frugality level here, but hey, the joke will be on everyone else I guess, when you're retired at 50 and we're all still here bitching in the careers thread and chasing something different.
There is no frugality with this purchase I am not buying a 10 year old Prius to commute with. I am buying a toy that I plan on using in different ways than my current vehicle and perhaps add some utility

The thing I need to figure out is if I could fit 37's without a lift and just modified fenders. I really don't like lifts, unless you spend tons of money, they're almost always compromised over OEM engineering (geometries, etc)

Suspension would have a ton to do with ride, more than the tires. With that much sidewall, they'd probably ride great, but the weight would make handling and stopping even worse than it already is.

And the height...I've had numerous people have difficulty getting in and out of my stock Rubicon on 33's. I'd seriously need to consider steps of some sort if I went much higher.

Only reason why I ask, I mean I know no one cares about mpg but at some point it turns a bit :butwhy: 33” are pretty big already. I think my buddy on 35s is averaging around 14mpg, I’d say 37s probably need a regear right ? To 4.88 and likely 11-3mpg at that point. Which is a huge compromise

I wouldn’t go near 4.88s with the 8speed in the JLs. Maybe 4.10s when running 37s or bigger. The stock 3.45s turn 32s no problem and forumbros running 35s don’t have any gearing issues.

I’m expecting to drop to 19-20mpg on 35s with the JLU.

In your case, a stock JLUR is perfectly ample. There'd be no real reason to go up to 35's, it'll be a pretty drastic hit on FE, and acceleration and braking will be compromised. All for a marginal increase in offroad capability.

The need to regear with the 8-speed is drastically diminished, but 4.88's with 37's is a good idea to be more like stock. But can't deny physics...the weight of those tires alone will compromise every single driving measure other than offroad performance.

The JT is so long that larger tires would improve offroad drastically. I've been out a few times where just an extra inch or so would prevent scraping a skid plate. I also think the trucks look a lot better with bigger tires.

I mean literally her leg could not reach the ground    I almost cried when it happened... shortly after she slipped since this was on an aircraft carrier and held by the door to not fall on her face.

Can't go wrong with another scoobie. I have never heard of anyone having issues in the first 6 years of ownership with one which is 12 :plac: eternities or more. They are shit after but :whocares: old car probs for the next guy.
