What works for one doesn’t generally work for all. Plenty of people love running. I dont because it hurts my knees and feet. So I don’t do it.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:15 pmThat's pretty much how I feel. I ride frequently (will be doing more with this quarantine), but I doubt she'll be going with me ever.

I bought Lisa a decent road bike one year for her birthday. She used it a few times. It sat on the trainer for a while and she used that a few times. Now it’s in the basement behind 30+ bags of plaster rubble.

Yeah I am just looking for a hobby that isn't terrible for my health or my wallet. Some kind of biking seems like the best answer if I can figure out how to enjoy it.Johnny_P wrote:What works for one doesn’t generally work for all. Plenty of people love running. IIRC you wanted to be able to go faster with less effort? Buy some slick tires and throw them on your bike. It’ll be just like a dedicated road bike but with better brakes and a tad more weight.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 5:26 pmYeah I am just looking for a hobby that isn't terrible for my health or my wallet. Continental GP5000 are killer tires. Get them in 30mm size (plus some tubes to mount them up) and try it out.

That completely sucks. They should be able to tell you if your health care is being paid or not.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:53 pm Seems I'm stuck in some weird purgatory where I don't know if I have health insurance or not.
So, looks like I'm off the bike until this is over.

She is too self conscious... this is always the way with physical activity stuff. She got crazy when we went to the gym together and she asked me for feedback of her lifts. I took video to show her some things and she panicked about it being so embarrassing.

Yeah I don't enjoy the pain exactly... but I kinda do? Exercise keeps me feeling good all of the time, right now being stuck in the fucking house all the time, getting outside for any reason feels amazing, and staying not fat feels amazing.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:49 pmRiding is my outlet. I can push myself, enjoy some thrills, see places I normally wouldn't see, get gainzzz from it, and have fun, all in one activity. I'd say I enjoy running more in some ways, bu what's cool about the bike is you can actually cover some decent distance and see things through a different lens versus driving.

No room at this cas And I'd be hesitant to on equipment at this stage of the game. Have you had anywhere to lift at all?Apex wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 8:42 amTime to build dat home gym.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 8:37 am

I noticed that a park near here has those body weight machines like bench, shoulder press, rows, etc. where the movement lifts your body on the seat... I've been debating the COVID risks of using that a few times a week, haven't lifted in 1.5 weeks now.

Nope, I don’t really have anything to lift these days. I’ll toss around the munchkin, so there’s that.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 8:53 amNo room at this cas And I'd be hesitant to on equipment at this stage of the game. Have you had anywhere to lift at all?

If I’m doing push-ups she can climb on my back for extra weight.

I should probably start carting some rocks around the yard.

One of the strongman gyms near me posted up a cheap option. Grab a sack of concrete, wrap it in duct tape, and work with that. You can do carries, lifts, etc. with it. And an old tire or something as a crash mat for it.
Seems like a really solution if someone has the space.
