I saw a friend on Facebook post up that she had to hustle and get back from Peru. She said that she did not receive any testing/checking in regards to COVID-19 despite coming from an international flight.
I experienced zero testing at all the airports I went to. I didn't go to any major ones like LAX, so it's possible testing is happening at more major airports?
It’s done on the international side not Intra country

How busy were the airports you were at? From pics I’ve seen flights and airports look barren.
Dead. I was on one regional flight that only had 10 people on it INCLUDING the flight crew. There were 100 open seats on a larger plane I was on too. Airlines will not last like this.

She said she breezed on through Philadelphia International.

Nope, someone I know who’s a United flight attendant is freaking out about how to pay rent/utilities/etc. going forward.

Socialism is frowned upon in this country.

Her management claims all of the work from home and quarantining is a gross over-reaction and there's no reason to not come into work if not showing symptoms. And if you do show symptoms, you have to take vacation to be paid if you stay home. So she's going in no matter what.

Funny thing is all her mgmt is boomers (obviously), so they might be doing all of themselves in. It's remarkable and everyone we tell is shocked to hear it (particularly medical professionals)
Wow. Like you are FCA. First word Fiat. Italy. Where they are stacking dead olds like cordwood. Very strange.

Italy loses 50% of people to respiratory diseases. How’s that any different other than the epic panic. You’d have to look at how many people die annually then compare to the virus ...
in the us 70k people die of flu and flu related symptoms annually ... 6k per month. Now we’re at 3k dead in a month ... hyper tracking this but that’s half of the flu deaths, and flu doesn’t happen in the summer so it’s safe to say that the 70k is primarily nov to March ... so ...

Question is if those normal 70k that die from the flu are still going to die in addition to this. Did this virus eat all the other flu viruses?

Also, this has likely been going on for a while, we just didn't know. A buddy of mine was sick with the exact symptoms back in December after his boss was hospitalized with the exact same symptoms after he returned from a GM plant just outside WUHAN for Thanksgiving. They just chalked it up to a bad flu.

I read that China’s first exposure was early November; so it’s completely possible this has been around for months longer than we currently know.

Right...and not just in China. It could have spread far for months without anyone knowing, and many people just assumed it was a bad flu.

Yep, that's what's its going to be like for most people. Except now if we put on a COVID-19 label on this it is DEATH AND DESTRUCTION. So far the panic has caused far more damage than the virus itself. People mobbing the hospital systems/food supplies etc. Everyone is freaking the fk out... sigh.

Now there are plenty of economic reasons obviously, and it is amazing to see how many companies fold after 1-2 months of less than stellar revenues.

What was crazy was how many boomers were on our flight to Detroit from Vegas. Easily 90% of the passengers. None taking it at all seriously. Coughing away and just being general morans like boomers do.

Our guess is they were snowbirds heading back to MI like normal assuming nothing will happen to them.

A litte OT but can ANYONE explain why a new Golf Cart costs $15,000 when I can get a used car that goes 160 mph for the same $$$. I mean, doesn't the profit margin on those things have to be like off the charts?
I don't get it.

All the Canadians who winter down here are being compelled to pack their shit up and head back to Calgary/other frozen tundra.

They will soon enough, once enough people are able to crawl back in.

This is how it happens.

Virus hits.... Everything ok ish...
Next step...
Customers start shutting down... refusing to ask for orders... first wave of people quitting usually top performers than can get better jobs
Next step...
Liquidity issue due to lack of cash coming in...
Next step...
Beg bank for increased credit line... who refuses because they are cash strapped also...
Next step...
Lack of cash/can't pay employees... furlough ... not sure if we can pay people.... and the people left are some of worst employees who can't get a job elsewhere
Next step...
Second wave of people quitting, looking for jobs, everyone unmotivated to work etc, productivity record lows...
Next step...
No one working for free, company reputation destroyed, everyone blames "GOLDEN PARACHUTES" "WHAT ABOUT MY MORTGAGE AND MY SPAWN"
Next step...
Doors close
