If you plan to die in your house then feel free to ignore it, but I sure as fuck hope/plan to live anywhere but here ASAP and probably move at least two more times after that. Appreciation is a yuuuge factor in where I might end up.[user not found] wrote:Appreciation only exists when you sell.
Until then, you might as well measure your net worth in valve stem caps.

I feel like the main "investment advantage" of a home is that it is forced savings. Renting doesn't really offer that. Anyone paying a mortgage is putting hundreds or thousands a month into they personal bank. It will incur expenses of course, but if you have to outlay say $1,200-2,000/month to live somewhere no matter what, may as well have half of that be put into a house that you can get back at the end.
It's a very situational thing though, everyone's personal financial results will depend on so many factors. Having just bought a (to me) pretty expensive house at $327K though, there is a bit of in the fact that if we wanted out of it, we'd basically have to shell out $25K in losses for realtor fees and shit.... basically 1.5 years of rent at a similar place.

A ton of sales coincide with the school year. You’ll see inventory go up in the spring and then dwindle down as the year goes on. Winter usually has the lowest inventory levels.

Buying "out of season" can potentially get you a good
markets die off in the winter months after October and get more competitive in March til July. On average you can expect 3-4% higher priced sales according to zillow.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 5:15 pmMarket opens up in March, slows down in November.
We closed on 10/1 in 2017 after a 60 day close. sat on the market all year, we were able to the number down a bit and negotiate for new HVAC.

I know nothing about cameras but my dad wants to put one up at the dock by his boat. Don't know exactly what he wants but it needs to work outdoors in a marine environment. What are the key words or standard brands? Ideally something that doesn't require a subscription.

Does he have wifi there? You can buy cheap Arlo cameras in 2 to 5 packs at various retailers like Costco and Walmart. They are pretty decent and can be wireless or powered by typical outlets/extension cords, if wireless they need to be plugged in and charged like once every two months.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:06 am I know nothing about cameras but my dad wants to put one up at the dock by his boat. There's wi-fi and 110 electric available so pretty much anything should work.

You get these types of images for a couple hundo, and it goes to an app on your phone with various notification settings, zoom, night vision, free 7 day cloud storage, and the ability to download or save vids and share them. Quality is poor but it works okay, I've got the Arlo Pro 2 cameras.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:18 am There's wi-fi and 110 electric available so pretty much anything should work.
I think it's a good enough product with minimal fussing, Detroit had a crappy time with his but I think he got the first generation and software only runs good if it is setup cleanly. Any changes like an added camera after the fact and the software is glitchy unless you uninstall and reinstall in on Android. I'm now a troubleshooting pro haha.

We grabbed this from Walmart only to find that it's useless. The cameras are wireless but the base station has to be wired... We only have wifi out here. Returning it and going back to the drawing board for now.

, I have mine plugged in at the router and never thought to go wifi. Sad to hear that it doesn't work.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:25 pm We grabbed this from Walmart only to find that it's useless. Now that I think about it there are signal repeaters that have ethernet ports, I wonder if they can go wifi to ethernet. Or only the other way around. I'm sure something on the market can do it for dirt cheap.
