Is this just the general car talk thread?
Anyone have experience making a product for a vehicle as a side business? Got an idea for my lesbo-wagon. Can probably net me $10k or so in the first few months, and then maybe a couple grand a year after with minimal work.
Would this be something you make on your own or contract out production?
Trying to figure it out. Need to test some designs first, but it really depends on volume and the cost.
I think raw material would be <$30, and if I made them myself, I could probably do one in less than 15 minutes. Sell for $150? Maybe sell 100-200 a year?

Eh, that was the point of buying new with the options that I actually wanted vs buying some 100k mile used one in the wrong color for half the price.
I that green and tan combo.
I really wish the whole interior was light but that's about my only complaint. Anything else I can fix with modzzz, though for now I don't want to touch anything.
That was our first family car (with no mods) we never changed the oil on it, in the 5 years we've had it, because we "didn't know". Just kept adding 1 quart every 2 months as it was burning it.
oh snap. I missed that part! brb, off to research.
edit: $36k is ehh and up to $41k. Very cool and will be a star rally platform.
is that too much?
and RS are $40K cars, what is the difference? Some people pick the VW flavor which is focused on interior , some would pick this 'yota or something like an RS, which doesn't keep up with VW in interior quality but makes up for it in the performance/driving characteristics.

RS dynamics > R 9/10 times. But VW interior is 9/10>RS

Agreed. And the market demonstrated that both vehicles are worth $40K new... I don't see why this Toyota is any different.

And this Yaris is 600-700 lbs lighter than each so it could move to the front of the Dynamics comparison. I'm with Griff I think the price is fair, especially since there's no real competition.

I don't mind the price. The mini pooper is 45k with FWD only... Hype R is 38k, but they are better cars... (inside) and not based on something that people in Mogadishu aspire to.
I am sure the Yoder is an absolute riot to drive. Lightweight/small and with power is a formula that can't be beat.

Who knows what the price would really be here anyway, doing a straight currency conversion is nowhere near accurate.

Its a shame the Civic Si doesn't come in automatic.
it's such a great and so easy. I rocked it in Miami traffic and it was fine. Some modern manuals are so easy I don't really understand why it's an issue for people. Not saying the STI is that, but have you driven an Si? Clutch is feather light, shifts are crisps, it's great.
