30 overall? Crazy. I get 23. Its dog shit. Do you just cruise on the highway most of the time out in the cow pastures. With LA stop and go and taking the kids around on short trips, the highway driving I do doesn't mitigate it much and I hover between 23 and at the very best, 25
Nah really only on /highway, like you said. Driving around here I get 26-28 but I work like 10-7 typically and try to avoid traffic. LA is different because there can be traffic 24/7, here it’s really only shit from 7-9 and 3:30-7, I try to avoid driving much in that :bs:
Because of my schedule, I typically commute in non-traffic hours but non traffic hours in LA/not rush hour is still congested compared to other places so yeah. Plus even if there is no traffic, there are a million stoplights to get through the city so that is really what kills it. Cool story

So :eeyore: of sorts update:

Do I still love the Mini ? Heck yes... but as per the :plac: disease is still roaming quite strongly. This was :triggered: by that M4 convertible I drove... I really enjoyed the manual!

The Mini sort of has an annoying ass stigma and people constantly ask me dumb ass questions, "do you even fit", "why did you get that car" etc. Frustrating, not enough to dump the car of course but I just don't like having those convos.

Now I am sort of thinking about a :manuel: M2, a Gayman S. from the sportier side, and perhaps a Wrongler of sorts. We're seeing $8500 on the hood here on the regular now. But those bitches are still WAY to damn expensive even with all that money on the hood. And no secondary used market still. Clean sub 50k mile JKs are still 25-30k :wtf:

Also after spending some time in a ES350 and a E350 that my buddy has I am sort of curious about a plushy quiet ride ala Johnny.... A lexus GS-F would be an interesting car with that regard.

And here is the whopper.... I think if I do decide to sell this thing by mid next year... it'll cost me 10k... or over 1k a month :fullretard: I don't think selling this thing will be in the cars, as that is insane.

Last 24 months here... got a solid 4X :plac: moves... the wheels keep on turnin. My constant :plac: issue is due to confinement to one vehicle.
Shit gets boring... Y'all can last a bit longer when cycling through the sig other cars.

Speaking of epic depreciation... Any sort of decent cars to own under 6 figures that don't depreciate and don't leave you stranded on the side of the road?

Cayman seems a bit dangerous especially for the gen I like, the Elise/Evora could be interesting. Any sort of "bigger" non sporty vehicle that is worth while? hmm :yikes:

No such thing as a non-sporty vehicle that's worthwhile!

New ES350 is a siiiick car. That would be such an ideal car for me.

Most / all lux cars will depreciate hard. Since you're a numbers guy... Ask yourself how much you're willing to front, how much depreciation you're willing to eat, and base your search on that. I was willing to eat $10k of depreciation on the STI, that's about what I figured it would cost. 3 years after purchase, that's about the real depreciation cost of the vehicle and I'm OK with it.

Yea all very valid points. My main issues are going to be work related. Both the woman and I are likely to switch jobs this year which may or may not make a :plac: car move, it has for me every time I did... yuge risk to take. Also hoping to finally get that house (2+ gayrage) this year, pending everything is going to turn out ok. So many damn unknowns. Sigh

You're not poor. If you want a different car because this one isn't doing it for you then change it up. I'd really suggest doing the math on how much you're willing to eat on car cost each month and backwards calculate it from there. If you leave it totally open you run into the conundrum that I often do, where you can afford damn near anything but can't make a decision because literally all the options are available.

I want a taller bigger vehicle for utility purposes. I dunno it’s money down the drain. The next job should have a money bump associated with it.
The house is the real issue nothing else comes close my car expenses even at 1k a month would be chump change. But that’s just the cost of living here, I have been “waiting” for 5 years to move and it’s starting to be completely insane. That’s 5 good years of my life wasted in compromise. Obviously a lot of other things tied into it but I’d like to live somewhere I love, at 35 it seems like it’s not too much to ask for

That's a lot of money for a car with a jvc Walmart special radio. I'm actually shocked how well it's held it's value. I like the convertible ones in yellow :doe:

rarity is key in any car outside of a wrangler and taco. I think my next car will have to be rare to avoid these 5 figure depreciation hits

Yeah and if your not a skinny dude you better do yoga to be limber enough to get in. Once I was in it was neat to drive but I was not looking forward to getting out.

Some podcast recently said it's the most beautiful, useless turd that they can't sell.
