That's much more than I'm willing to spend, for that, I'm almost to ND miata territory.troyguitar wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 2:29 pm Yeah the base is the only real "safe" 987.1 to get, and luckily the values don't reflect that yet. It's worth a test drive and likely worth buying over a Z3.

Speaking of fitment, this trip up to VIR was the first time I've driven a good distance in the race seat (Sparco QRT-R) and I actually found it far more comfortable than stock. Zero back pain, support is great. Only complaint would be that it gets kind of hot.

Being dragged by chains in a lynching behind a truck in backwoods Mississippi is more comfortable than stock C5/C6 seats. The worst part of the cars by far.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 4:06 pm Speaking of fitment, this trip up to VIR was the first time I've driven a good distance in the race seat (Sparco QRT-R) and I actually found it far more comfortable than stock. I never issues with the seats in the C5, spent 40k miles in them. M3 comp seats were rock hard and uncomfortable in comparison. How we the ride in the C5 is more in line with your analogy.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 11:47 pmBeing dragged by chains in a lynching behind a truck in backwoods Mississippi is more comfortable than stock C5/C6 seats. Do not want a car that needs ET Streets just to drive around. Fun for some, I'm sure, but that just seems to me.
I always found the comfort was not great, not terrible... but the minute you start driving hard you may as well be on a trolley bench. My Kamry seats are the best I’ve experienced for DD.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 11:47 pmBeing dragged by chains in a lynching behind a truck in backwoods Mississippi is more comfortable than stock C5/C6 seats. Hell, I don't even want to drive on my worn down Rivals. I can't imagine a soft tire with barely any tread. I have to usually travel on I-10 to events, so doing 65-70 in the rain is just nerve racking when they get down to the wear barsHuckleberry wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:48 pmI got caught on Mickey's in a heavy rain once. That was back in my early 20s. The car wasn't my DD, so I just threw drag radials on. It was just one of those times where the day was nice when it started, and then the clouds came quickly.coogles wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:55 pmI bet.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:48 pm

After that fun event, the Mickey's were replaced with a proper summer tire. Life experiences and such.
Anything over 35 and she was squirrelly. I basically had to do 35 with my hazards on.Acid666 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 2:51 pmHell, I don't even want to drive on my worn down Rivals. Finally was able to clean up the C5 this weekend and it's looking good.
I'm starting to make plans for my light resto:
1. TurnOne rack
2. OEM oil cooler
3. Suspension - I'm not sure what route to go here - all OEM components like inner/outer tie rods is kind of , those alone will be close to $1K I can find kits with all of it for like $200... if there's a happy medium? Same kinda goes with the control arms, I could replace which is expensive or just buy bushing, but can those be replaced at home easily enough? Never done this... What should I do ?
I'm also on the fence about adding coilovers right now. Any thoughts from the class?
4. Other stuff - change all fluids, figure out why the OPS continually fucks up, figure out occasional misfire, etc.
5. Eventually 4.10s and clutch/bleeder
