Pooper JCW GP "starts at $45,760"

Yeah, that is a looooot of money. Hard to imagine buying that over say an M240i, high spec V8 Mustang/Camaro, etc. Used for $23K they might bemax225 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:46 pm https://www.yahoo.com/news/mini-john-co ... 00170.html
Pooper JCW GP "starts at $45,760"
limited to 3k units... I wonder if they will actually sell em... I don't think the current JCW sells 3k and it "starts" at 33k
I fucking love it. Cheaper than a Type R and supposedly still great to hoon. What’s not to love.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:15 pmToo bad no one is buying thoseJohnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:10 pm Also, there's this:

VelobsterN won Performance Car of the Year from R&T. Beat out the new Corvette, M2 comp, Supra, 911 CS.... Maybe clickbait article butnonetheless.

Default is Executive Status with zero rentals previously. Also up to 25% off rentals and $15 off a 3 day weekend rental.CaleDeRoo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:40 pmWhich tier do you get with that card?CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:04 pm
Yeah, I like national as well. I get the emerald club by having the Amex Platinum and it's a decent perk.
Even my 63 year old mom knows to demand something "not a Nissan" at the counter
Someone who wants a hot hatch that’s not a VW. I mean I’d buy one. If they were out when I was shopping for the WRX i would have looked at them.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:29 pmI mean they are in a very niche place in the market.
Hyundai is a shitty brand commanding an expensive premium for performance. So this is someone whoabout brand,
about RWD, and
about having 3 doors. This is a rare customer... especially when a used golf R is the same price and Pooper JCW is 10k less. A BRZ is around the same price... and tons of other performance can be had for 30k ... I am really
who this customer is... other than someone trying to "prove the internet wrong" or "die hard H fan"
Its a crowded market, but given lack ofdiscunts, people are buying them.
Looks like they are trying to copy Sapphire reserve.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:57 pmDefault is Executive Status with zero rentals previously. Also up to 25% off rentals and $15 off a 3 day weekend rental.
The card is decent, and looks impressive since it's metal. Gets you into the Centurion lounges, Delta VIP lounges (if flying Delta) at airports and another name lounge I forget at the moment. It also upgrades your Hilton Honors and Mariott Bonvoy memberships and they pay for your TSA PreCheck or Global Entry fees.
The welcome bonus was pretty decent too, I cashed it in for like $800 at Bed Bath and Beyond. Combined with their 20% off coupons you always get we got a lot of stuff for "free".
True, but just as far as price comparison. This is $12K more than a Type R and does it even have LSD? It's also worse on fuel, less space, etc. Seems like a tougher niche than the Veloster N to me just based on price alone. You start getting really good cars in that price range.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:57 pmThey are quite different cars though... V8 mustang and camero are tough to compare...
Golf R, civic R however are a more interesting comparo...
used M2 is as well... they are smack down in that price... I think this will likely go to Mini die hards only... those that owned the prior ones...

The price has always been a major barrier to entry for the fancy JCW poopers. Up until a year ago they were also severely down on power (paper at least) compared to the others.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:59 pmTrue, but just as far as price comparison. Yeah. They also let you pay over time if you're approved for that option. It's pretty crazy because they gave me $200k in spending power (charge card) and $180k in pay over time (credit card). Last month I put $20k on it and paid it off. Should have some decent points this month. I bet I still won't get an invite for the Centurion/Black card though.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:58 pmLooks like they are trying to copy Sapphire reserve.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:57 pm

a hyper R is not 12k less. They are 38k now and most have 5k mark up... i think the actual transaction prices will be closer. And the interior in the mini is way better than a hype R. But both are plagued with atrocious exterior trimmings now.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:59 pmTrue, but just as far as price comparison. They are sort of down on power, they are also a bit smaller than the rest, and have far better interiors/quality IMO. It really depends on what you value. The veloster is sort of rental spec inside... but it kills the JCW in particular with the LSD piece. That's aJohnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 2:02 pmThe price has always been a major barrier to entry for the fancy JCW poopers. Oh nice. My dad's executive status runs out this year and he will definitely be in for a shock at the cost of renting vehicles he's used to.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 1:57 pmDefault is Executive Status with zero rentals previously. Uber credits of $15/month, $200/year in airline credits for things like checked bags.... tons of points if you book travel and hotels via the Amex portal. stuff like that. Makes it worth the $500 annual fee, at least so far.
